So THAT’S how she’s made Adele of a difference! Singer loses 7st with a fitness regime

This week’s pictures of the singer smiling on the beach in Anguilla after the New Year were notable for many reasons

She was the curvy star with a bombshell voice who enjoyed a stratospheric rise to stardom.

Now, as fans eagerly await the release of Adele’s first new album since 2015, it appears she is a woman transformed.

This week’s pictures of the singer smiling on the beach in Anguilla after the New Year, where she had been holidaying with celebrity pals Harry Styles and James Corden, were notable for many reasons.

Her huge smile spoke of a woman who is not just content, but brimming with joie de vivre.

The jaunty scarf at her neck sat above clearly defined collar bones and a swathe of decolletage that looked stunning, but considerably reduced from years past.

Her mini dress revealed a length of toned leg, proving that the 31-year-old singer has continued to lose weight.

Indeed, a college student who met the star on the Caribbean beach told a U.S. magazine that Adele revealed to her that she had lost ‘something like 100 pounds’.

‘She seemed so happy, and she looked amazing. She seemed really confident,’ said 19-year-old American Lexi Larson.

Here, we examine how Adele achieved her stunning new look . . .

Fighting fit after hours in the gym

She may not be a natural gym bunny, but as any woman who has lost weight knows, shapely thighs and a defined waist don’t appear by diet alone.

Lean and toned, Adele’s physique bears the hallmarks of a woman who has reluctantly embraced the gym.

She once famously said: ‘I’m not, like, skipping to the f****** gym. I don’t enjoy it.’

The star is reportedly a fan of the training DVDs of The Body Coach Joe Wicks and Canadian-born celebrity trainer Dalton Wong, who has also worked with her close pal, Hollywood star Jennifer Lawrence.

Exercising at home is more comfortable for the singer, who admits she gets self-conscious because the blood vessels in her face burst easily.

On Instagram late last year she implied she’s been hard at work.

‘I used to cry, but now I sweat,’ she quipped under a very glamorous photograph, in which she revealed a slender shoulder.

Her routine is said to consist of 60-minute sessions that include circuit training and Pilates.

She is a long-time client of London trainer Pete Geracimo, who travelled with the singer on her last world tour.

In Los Angeles, where she bought a home four years ago, she’s rumoured to have joined the A-list following Rise Nation, a Stairmaster-like climbing class (3,500ft in 30 minutes).

And it seems she may also have turned to boxing. An LA source says: ‘I’ve heard she’s been boxing with an instructor and that she really enjoys it.’

The ultimate toning workout, boxing can burn up to 400 calories in half an hour, and is also a great form of stress relief.

Pippa diet makes a big difference

According to her LA-based fitness trainer Camila Goodis, Adele’s weight loss is 90 per cent down to eating well and giving up processed food, sugar and fizzy drinks.

Adele herself has admitted she lost weight after cutting out ten cups of tea a day, each sweetened with two spoons of sugar.

She is said to have followed the Sirtfood Diet, of which Geracimo, is a fan.

Sirtuins are a type of protein that studies on fruit flies and mice have shown regulate metabolism, increase muscle and burn fat.

Apparently, many athletes (and Pippa Middleton, before her wedding) swear by the plan, which promises to ‘help you burn fat’ — all without giving up such indulgences as red wine and chocolate.

Adele also massively cut back her alcohol intake after giving birth to son Angelo, now seven.

Help from her A-list friends

A young, celebrated group of creatives supported Adele through her marriage split.

She is also friends with singer Taylor Swift, who is dating the British actor Joe Alywn. Other pals include film director Sam Taylor-Johnson and music producer Mark Ronson.

On her 31st birthday last May, Adele had a party in Los Angeles with her friends. She wrote: ‘This is 31 . . . Thank f***ing God. 30 tried me so hard but I’m owning it and trying my hardest to lean into it all. 31 is going to be a big ol’ year and I’m going to spend it all on myself.’

Get up and go after going solo

Another reason for Adele’s new glow may be the amicable split from her husband, Simon Konecki last April.

Adele and Simon Konecki were together for eight years, but married for little over 12 months

The couple were together for eight years, but married for little over 12 months. While there was inevitable heartbreak over the split, she has told friends she feels ‘relieved’ to be free.

She even told one confidante last summer that she feared she was turning into a recluse. ‘She wasn’t having a laugh any more,’ the friend said.

She and Konecki — an ex-banker 15 years her senior who now runs a clean water charity — have managed to forge a very workable relationship, with joint custody of their son.

Although Adele referred to him as her ‘husband’ for years, the divorce papers make it clear that they tied the knot only on May 4, 2018, meaning that they were married for barely 13 months before announcing their separation.

Adele is said to have found Konecki rather intense to live with. ‘She doesn’t like anyone telling her what to do, which seems to have been a problem,’ said the friend.

‘She ended up staying home a lot, eating junk food and watching telly. She felt as if she had got old before her time.’

South London to La La Land

Brit School graduate Adele’s jet-set life is a world away from her own childhood, when she was raised by her single mum, Penny Adkins, in a succession of small flats in South London.

A month after her marital split was announced, Adele paid £8.5 million for a pad in LA.

With five bedrooms, six bathrooms, an office, art studio, library and gym, it sits on nearly an acre of land and offers perfect privacy for Adele and Angelo.

It is also only a few feet away from her old marital home, which she bought in 2016 for £6.5 million, allowing the separated parents to share custody of their son with ease.

However, friends say she has talked about coming back to live in the UK, and that she still feels ‘like a Londoner’.

New look, new style of music

Rumours of a new album have been rife for months, but it turned out 2019 would not see the release of Adele’s fourth studio album.

The mood of the new album is apparently defiantly upbeat in contrast to the heartbroken anthems that made her famous.

As to why the release has been delayed, she is a perfectionist who delayed her last album several times.

Now slim and happy and apparently embracing a lot of modern styles in music, the star is also said to have some reservations about what fans will make of the new Adele.

‘There is some nervousness about whether her weight loss will play well, as she’s always been big and beautiful and singing massive miserable torch songs,’ says a source.

‘Hippy’ habits and no ciggies

Given she turned to hypnotherapy to kick her smoking habit, it’s no surprise that she’s reportedly turned to it again.

After losing her voice in 2011, when she cancelled shows and had surgery, the star was told by doctors to quit smoking or face the end of her career.

She was reported to have visited two hypnotherapists in an attempt to give up her 25-a-day habit for good.

More recently, there has been speculation that she may have returned to one of them, Susan Hepburn, to help her in her weight loss journey.

Hepburn has been linked to a string of celebrities, but is known for her discretion. The ex-nurse charges £295 a session and compares the process to ‘fixing a computer’.

‘No one’s born predestined to have a weight issue,’ she said. ‘It’s learned behaviour. I change the mindset [of the client] by hypnotising them.’

Adele also meditates (‘now I’m a hippy,’ she said in 2016) and is a devotee of crystals, which she credits with helping her overcome stage fright.

The singer mislaid her lucky charms before her Grammy performance in 2016.

Normally pitch perfect, she delivered an unexpectedly below-par rendition of All I Ask.

‘It turned out to be the worst performance I have ever done,’ she said.
