A kangaroo invaded a women’s premier league match and raced across the pitch before escaping through the gates. 

Belconnen United and Canberra FC players found the most unusual pitch-invader filling in as a ‘goalkeeper’ after half-time. 

The kangaroo jumped from the stands and dashed madly across the field.

It was seen laying down in between the goals,making itself at home during the national premier league game in ACT.

The relaxed animal took its position in one of the goalmouths as tentative staff rolled a ball towards it in an attempt to help the roo exit the field.

The footage captured by Bar TV Sports shows that the roo returned later for one last cameo, slicing past defenders and then heading for the exit. 

‘And the kangaroo is on the field of play again, scattering players left and right, bearing down on goal,’ the match commentator joked.
