Social media users are selling their used and new plastic bags after the Woolworths ban on single-use plastic bags.

The ban of single-use plastic bags in Woolworths stores around the country have sparked consumer backlash.

Many shoppers have slammed the supermarket for taking advantage of banning free single-use bags in favour of thicker plastic bags for 15 cents, or the $1 green bags.

However, social media has decided to look on the funny side of the ban and have put up their single-use plastic bags up for sale.

The Woolies Memes Facebook page has shared a post of a ‘Rare Plastic Bag’ selling for $1000.

The sellers description of the bag is: ‘Rare plastic bag, excellent condition. Will last 100+ years. Pick up Kilmore. Non neg. lol.’

Members of the Facebook page were quick to make a mockery of the post and ban.

‘Almost as expensive as the new plastic bags,’ one commented.

‘I should have kept the old ones I had instead of feeding them to the the dolphins and turtles,’ another wrote.

One user recommended a way to be able to afford the bag is ‘if we all work at least 15 hours this week maybe we can share it.’
