Sonny Bill Williams shows off his six-pack as he relaxes with his pregnant wife and children

Sonny Bill Williams flaunted his ripped physique as he took time out from his rigorous training regime to spend time with his family at the beach.

The former All Blacks superstar, 36, is in Australia for a gruelling 30-day camp with his personal trainer after he signed a world-record deal with Super League club Toronto Wolfpack to become the highest paid rugby player in either code.

The New Zealand dual international and his pregnant wife Alana Raffie took their three young children, daughters Iman, 6, and Aisha, 3, and 17-month-old son Zaid, to enjoy the Kingscliff waves on Tuesday.

The cross-code star has been spending hours every day at Kingscliff’s Surfing Australia high performance centre, on NSW’s north coast, doing a variation of intensive workouts, including weights, trampoline, cardio and gymnastics.

Last month, Williams signed a whooping $10million contract to join the team for the Canadian side’s first season in the English Super League.

The sum for the two-year contract etched Williams into the sport’s history books, making him the highest paid athlete ever in either Rugby code.

The star has amped up his training as he gears himself up to be in immaculate shape ahead of his Super League debut on February 2 playing against the Castleford Tigers.

Williams has been staying with personal trainer – former Sydney Roosters speed, strength and nutrition coach, Keegan Smith, who is the son of former NRL coach Brian Smith on his five acre property outside Byron Bay.

Several athletes and coaches were expected to visit the training camp to assist with Williams’ preparations.

‘We know what Sonny is capable of and we want to go beyond that. That is why he is still playing – he wouldn’t be doing it unless he wanted to get better. We want to see how far we can go with Sonny – to take him to another level,’ Smith recently told The Daily Telegraph.

‘The goal for the camp is to have Sonny in the best shape he’s been in. We know his previous performances so this camp is about increasing flexibility, strength and speed to have him ready to express his skills on the field in 2020.’

On Wednesday, the Rugby champion gave 9News an inside look at his training programme.

Speaking about his hefty work load, he said the vigour was essential to get him ready for his role.

‘I need to, I need to, the finished product is the big lights,’ Williams said.

‘You earn that right through that week, through that pre-season, behind closed doors, when you’re at home doing your stretching and eating the meals you probably don’t want to eat.

Williams has also shared videos of his preparations with his 944,000 followers, which show him in the gym lifting weights and sprint training.

He was also spotted at boxer Anthony Mundine’s loss against John Wayne Parr in Brisbane on Saturday night.

Williams is expected to join his new club in early January in his second comeback to professional rugby league.

Due to unsuitable training conditions in Canada, the club will initially based in the UK in Manchester before players and their families relocate to Toronto in April.

Williams, a practising muslim, announced that he and Alana were expecting their fourth child in a photo of an All Blacks jersey inscribed with ‘baby #4’ over Instagram in September.

‘Sometimes I really don’t think I deserve all the blessings I’ve received in my life. Alhumdulliah Alhumdulliah Alhumdulliah!!‪Love & blessings always fam,’ he wrote alongside a photo

He first burst onto the football scene with the Bulldogs in the NRL in 2004, winning a premiership in his maiden season.

He sensationally left the Bulldogs in 2008 to take up a contract with rugby union side Toulon in France, going on to play for the All Blacks and winning two World Cups.

Williams then returned to the NRL with the Roosters in 2013, winning a premiership that year.

In 2014, he switched back to rugby union and re-joined the All Blacks.
