Sophie Monk, 42, says she received ‘bad news’ during her fertility journey with husband Joshua Gross and they are now ‘taking a break’

Sophie Monk has opened up about her baby plans with husband Joshua Gross.

The Love Island host, 42, told Kyle and Jackie O on Wednesday she’d received some ‘bad news’ and the couple had decided to ‘take a break’ from the process.

‘It’s just complicated. I don’t know when it will happen or what will happen,’ Sophie explained of her fertility journey.

Sophie, who froze her eggs in late 2018 at the age of 38, added: ‘We’ve had good news and bad news, and now we are going to take a break and chill.’

It comes after Sophie told Who magazine she would love to start a family but has also accepted the possibility she may not be able to have a child at her age.

‘We are working towards that and if it happens it would be incredible, but if it doesn’t then that’s just not meant to be,’ she said.

‘That’s the only way you can look at it. I’m a big believer that everything happens for a reason.’

Sophie said she and robotics consultant Joshua, 41, were ‘definitely trying’.

The Love Island presenter has previously said the pair both want children one day.

The couple eloped at their home on the NSW Central Coast in March, which came as a surprise to fans as they had not announced a wedding date.

It was an intimate affair with no guests in attendance.

The couple first met on a flight from Europe to Australia in August 2018, and shared a kiss after enjoying ‘three champagnes’ in business class.

They grew closer when Joshua helped Sophie recover from endometriosis surgery. At about this time, she also started the process of freezing her eggs.
