A puppy has been rescued from the brink of death in South Korea, after cruel pranksters sliced open the corners of her mouth like villain The Joker in Batman: The Dark Knight.
Six-month-old Golden Retriever ‘Bobby’ was found with her mouth tied with rope and wounds on her legs in the capital of Seoul, last Tuesday.
She was unable to eat or drink and had been left for dead on wasteland.
Golden Retriever ‘Bobby’ had her mouth cut back on both sides like Batman villain the Joker by thugs who also broke her front right foot
The six-month-old puppy had been deliberately burned with a small flame-thrower gun on open leg wounds. She had an operation as well as laser surgery after being rescued.
Several burned and infected wounds were found on her legs and paws.
Her front leg was broken while her claws had all been smashed in, which left her struggling to walk.
Rescuers believe that after having her mouth cut, the puppy had also been deliberately burned with a small flame-thrower gun, because there were open wounds on her legs.
Rescue workers said the dog had been cut open on each side of her mouth, so that she looked like the Joker character from the Batman film franchise (pictured here played by Heath Ledger in 2008’s The Dark Knight)
Miraculously, Bobby was saved and underwent an operation and laser surgery to heal her wounds.
The cuddly Retriever even shows humans the same love she would have done before – hobbling over to vets and wagging her tail affectionately.
Volunteers from animal welfare group, We Love Dogs, raised money for Bobby’s treatment and are now caring for her.
A spokesman for the shelter said: ‘We were eager to treat Bobby. There were many traces of abuse all over her body.
Bobby was treated by We Love Dogs who are now caring for her. She apparently stills shows as much affection to humans as she did before being attacked.
Rescuers who found Bobby on wasteland in South Korean capital Seoul said that she is ‘very lucky to be alive and we will make sure she is taken care of’
‘Even though she was strong enough to heal from the many injuries and illness, she will need a lot of support to be strong again.
‘The wound on her mouth was likely caused by a knife but it could also have been a flame thrower. We don’t know why they would do that.
‘We are trying to find the person who did this to her. We have asked anybody with information to contact us anonymously.
‘The puppy is very lucky to be alive and we will make sure she is taken care of.’
