Southern Charm’s Thomas Ravenel ‘seen on video taking hallucinogenic drugs’

Secretly recorded video has emerged of fallen reality TV star and disgraced ex-state treasurer Thomas Ravenel allegedly experimenting with hallucinogenic drugs at a party in his home and encouraging a drunken female reveler to join him.

The footage, obtained exclusively by DailyMail.com, allegedly shows former Southern Charm cast member Ravenel taking magic mushrooms amid chaotic scenes of party guests congregated in the bathroom of his Charleston home.

The video is just part of a slew of new court documents – evidence and allegations brought against Ravenel, 57, by his ex Kathryn Dennis, 28, in her high profile bid for sole custody of children Kensie, 5, and Saint, 3.

Besides the video footage, Kathryn has recounted what she claims are a host of erratic, violent and degrading moments, including one occasion on which, she has claimed, Ravenel watched muscleman porn then masturbated on her back while she slept, according to the documents.

Now, in the grainy video images seen here for the first time today, Ravenel can be seen dipping his hand into an open plastic bag, offered to him by a fellow party-goer.

Off camera an inebriated female is heard asking him, ‘You’re gonna do that right now?’ and pleading, ‘Thomas, no. No, you’re, like, gonna geek out right now.’

As music plays in the background and the camera lurches wildly around the room the woman can be heard stating, ‘I wouldn’t want to do it. I don’t want to hallucinate.’

Ravenel’s distinctive voice can be clearly heard slurring as he responds, ‘It’s just mushrooms.’

The video is undated but in her accompanying affidavit Kathryn has stated, ‘…various people have sent me all kinds of things regarding Thomas over the years.’

The song heard in the background of the clip, Middle by DJ Snake, was released in late 2015, meaning the incident took place at some point afterwards.

The court material included this secret video. The affidavit notes, ‘the footage (which is bad) shows that Thomas is having a party and a crowd is congregated in his bathroom talking (sic) mushrooms.

‘You can heard (sic) Thomas’ voice and there is a quick camera glance at him and you can hear Thomas talking about how mushrooms don’t show up on drug screens.’

Court ordered mandatory drug tests were set as a condition of the couple’s current temporary custody arrangement in which Ravenel is the children’s primary custodian but the parenting is split 50/50 between them.

Kathryn has previously accused Ravenel of trying to evade follicle tests by shaving all of his body hair. Meanwhile Ravenel has accused her of purchasing synthetic urine to falsify results.

One of a myriad of conditions placed on both Ravenel and his ex is that they should not be intoxicated by drink or under the influence of any other drugs while caring for their children

Under the heading ‘CONCERNS WITH THOMAS,’ Kathryn’s latest affidavit has bluntly stated, ‘Thomas has a drinking problem. He has violated the restraint against becoming impaired from alcohol when he has the children for parenting time.’

She added, ‘Inexplicably – Thomas just sent me a video of Saint watching some old cartoons on television with him sitting in his chair…(you can see Thomas’ feet and Saint sitting close to the TV).

‘In a slurred voice, he states, ‘Remember this Kensie’ – to our son, Saint.’

Ravenel was granted sole custody of the children back in 2017 when reality TV’s most turbulent couple appeared to have finally reached some approximation of an agreement.

Kathryn was to work towards increased access with the ultimate goal being 50/50 co-parenting.

But last October Ravenel was hit with criminal charges after his children’s former nanny, Dawn Ledwell, accused him of a drunken sexual assault against her some four years ago.

The original warrant was for a charge of aggravated rape but that was swiftly reduced to assault in the second degree.

Kathryn filed her motion for sole custody shortly after.

Since then each has appeared intent on a very public character assassination of the other.

Earlier this year DailyMail.com uncovered filings from Ravenel detailing Kathryn’s litany of mental health diagnoses and a laundry list of prescription medications that she allegedly both consumed and abused.

Last week, Ravenel was fined $500 after taking a plea deal to charges he assaulted a former nanny. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail in court but that will be suspended upon payment

Now Kathryn has fired back with the damaging videos and a host of behaviors she claims she would ‘like to forget’ but has rehearsed for the benefit of the court.

They include, ‘The time that we had a pool party and Thomas was so drunk while holding Kensie that he fell into the pool with her as a baby and I had to jump in to grab Kensie: the Christmas where Thomas flew into a range (sic) and threw the Christmas tree that I had decorated across the room; …the time he put my fake fur coat in a tub full of water…the time he threw a lamp at me and glass shattered everywhere; and the time he threw an astray (sic) in my face.’

And the time, ‘…when he masturbated on my back while I was asleep because he was mad at me for rejecting his advances for sex (because I was exhausted and pregnant). I also discovered that he had been watching muscleman porn that night.’

Last week the criminal case against Ravenel wrapped up when he pleaded guilty to assault in the third degree and avoided a prison term with a $500 fine.

DailyMail.com has learned that, on Ledwell’s request, Ravenel has also agreed to pay $80,000 to People Against Rape, a local sexual assault victim support group, as well as her legal fees to the tune of $45,000.
