The clean-up operation has begun after Storm Gloria battered Spain killing eight and leaving 200,000 without power.
The ferocious weather, the country’s worst storm for 30 years, saw winds of more than 140 km per hour and waves reaching more than 10 metres.
Elsewhere, heavy snow and rainfall unleashed chaos, crippling transport and destroying infrastructure – mostly in the Balearic Islands and eastern regions.
Now, as the weather dies down, residents in Morella, Castellón have begun to dig themselves out of the snow.

Despite the clean-up, yellow or amber warnings in about twenty provinces are still in place, most of them in the north-east of the country.
And a British man Ben Garland, 25, remains missing after going on a motorcycle ride around the island of Ibiza.

While in the Costa Brava holiday resort of Tossa de Mar, locals woke up to the surreal sight of sea foam which had invaded part of the old town.

Early on Wednesday the death toll was four, but that jumped to eight yesterday afternoon.
Those include a 43-year-old engineer killed on Sunday in front of his wife and two children by an out-of-control van as he tried to put snow chains on his tyres near a ski resort in the northern province of Leon.
The four new victims included a Spanish pensioner who had been reported missing after his empty car was found in a flood area near the Costa Blanca.

Firefighters found the body of a 75-year-old under the remains of a building in Alcoy in the province of Alicante which collapsed because of the bad weather.
And authorities confirmed a homeless man had died of hypothermia in a park in the neighbouring province of Almeria.
He became the third person killed by hypothermia since the start of Storm Gloria.
The other two dead included a Romanian woman who was sleeping rough in a park in the Costa Blanca resort of Gandia, found dead on Monday morning, and a 71-year-old Spaniard who died after going out for a walk in Moixent in the province of Valencia.
Another four people are missing, including a 25-year-old British man in Ibiza.
In Catalonia, one of the worst affected areas of Spain at present, 64 people have so far been treated for injuries caused by the bad weather.

Isabel Ferrer, Civil Protection Director for Catalonia, warned more rain due this afternoon would increase the risk of flooding and rivers overflowing their banks.
Urging people in the region to avoid all unnecessary journeys, she said: ‘We are facing an emergency situation which is still not over.’
Catalonia’s Interior Minister Miguel Buch predicted the next few hours would be ‘very difficult’.
Overnight it emerged search and rescue teams are looking for two people missing in the Costa Brava town of Palamos and a small town near Barcelona called Begues.
The man missing in Palamos is understood to have fallen into the water as he tried to berth a boat.
The man who vanished in Begues disappeared after failing to return from a walk. He is believed to be aged around 80.

Three other people reported missing on Tuesday included a 27-year-old abseiler who became separated from friends in Majorca and a Spanish pensioner whose car was carried away in a flood area as he drove from Benidorm to nearby Callosa d’En Sarria.
Two have yet to be found. The OAP’s vehicle was empty when it was located and searched by firefighters and the search for the abseiler was suspended late yesterday because of bad weather.
Fears another man who went missing in the eastern province of Castellon could become a Storm Gloria victim, were dispelled overnight after it emerged he had been found safe and well in a rural shelter.
He is understood to have vanished after going to check on his cows.
The Costa Blanca, Costa Brava and the Balearic Islands have been among the worst affected areas by the latest storm, which has been battering many parts of Spain in the form of high winds, torrential rain and snow since Sunday.
Alicante Airport, closed last week by a roof fire, had to be shut again for a day and a half from Sunday as a precaution.

A wave nearly 50ft high and described as record-high for the Balearic Islands was recorded off the holiday island of Menorca at 1pm local time yesterday.
Some supermarkets in Mallorca said Tuesday they were running short of certain products because sea conditions had affected shipping from the mainland.
The engineer killed on Sunday has been named as Misael Garcia, from Oviedo in Asturias, northern Spain.
The second victim of Storm Gloria was a 54-year-old homeless Romanian woman who died overnight on Sunday from hypothermia.
She was found dead in a park on Monday morning in the Costa Blanca resort of Gandia.
Local reports said the unnamed woman and her husband had refused a social services’ offer of a bed for the night ahead of the storm and had only accepted blankets and food.

The third victim was a man who died after being hit by tiles from a roof in the village of Pedro Bernardo near the cathedral city of Avila.
The 63-year-old was found dead by a neighbour asked to check on him by worried relatives.
A 71-year-old man died from hypothermia in Moixent in the province of Valencia.
Ports on the nearby island of Menorca have been closed for two days, the La Vanguardia newspaper said.
Another video showed the swollen Onyar River in the northeastern city of Gerona gushing past buildings and almost touching the bottom of some bridges.
Authorities warned there was a risk it could break its banks.

Much of Gerona province was without electricity for several hours Tuesday because of a fault in the power connection with France, emergency services said on Twitter.
Many schools remained closed in the northeastern region of Catalonia as well as the Valencia region further south and the inland region of Aragon, Spanish media said.
Traffic authorities said dozens of roads remained impassable because of the snow, including the A7 highway between the northeastern town of Figueres and the French border.
The storm, which whipped up Sunday, initially claimed lives of three men and one woman before the death toll then doubled.
