Spear fisherman in his 20s is fighting for life after being pulled from the water at Bondi Beach

Horror at Bondi Beach as man is pulled from the water unconscious and rushed to hospital clinging to life

  • He was pulled from the water at Bondi Beach around 4pm on Thursday  
  • His friends attempted CPR on him after they pulled him onto the rocks  
  • Lifesavers then quickly brought the man back to the beach on the jet ski 
  • Was treated at scene and taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a critical condition 
  • Five other people who had been spear fishing with the man were assessed 

A spear fisherman in his 20s is fighting for his life after being pulled from the water at Bondi Beach. 

The man had got into trouble while he was spear fishing at North Bondi and was rescued by lifesavers around 4pm on Thursday. 

He was found unconscious and was quickly pulled from the water before his friends attempted CPR on the rocks.

The man was found unconscious and was pulled to the out of the water and onto the rocks before his friends attempted CPR. Lifesavers then quickly brought him back to the beach on a jet ski, before being treated on scene and transported to hospital in a critical condition

Lifesavers then took him onto the beach via a jet ski. 

The Toll Ambulance Helicopter’s medical team landed on Bondi Beach and treated the man at the scene before being taken by road to St Vincent’s Hospital in a critical condition. 

Five other people who had been spear fishing with the man were assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene.  

NSW Ambulance Inspector Giles Buchanan said: ‘This was a very traumatic experience for this man’s friends and we commend their quick response in trying to assist their friend.’
