A Florida man, who was pulled over for speeding on Sunday, told police that he was rushing to get home to his wife because he had just cheated on her.

Jon Earl Pickard, 52, was stopped for driving recklessly after an officer from the Tarpon Springs Police Department clocked him going more than 90mph in a 55mph zone.

Pickard was driving his 2015 Honda down US Route 19 when the officer spotted him.

According to an arrest affidavit that was obtained by the Smoking Gun, Pickard was on his way to his Palm Harbor home around 7.30pm.

Pickard reportedly ‘indicated his driving was reckless and endangering because he needed to get home in a hurry because he was cheating’ on his 55-year-old wife.

The man was initially charged for reckless driving, but when cops searched him after the arrest, they found a bag of cocaine that was stuffed in his shirt pocket.

He was then charged with drug possession.

According to the report, Pickard ‘spontaneously said he had just purchased it for $50.00’.

He was released from jail late Sunday night after posting $2,250 bond.

His next court appearance is scheduled for December 5.

Records show that Pickard was arrested earlier this year for domestic violence, which involved a confrontation with his wife.

He allegedly shoved her during an argument. He was arrested but the woman later requested to have the charge against him dropped.
