Spider-Man spotted in Boston subway revealed to be Chipotle employee, 19

Spider-Man appears to be giving his web shooters a break and opting for a more sensible form of transportation.

The crime-fighting comic book hero has been spotted by several citizens on the Boston subway, known as the T.

One particularly convincing video shows him hanging upside down from a pole during the evening commute.

Patch managed to track down the man seen wearing the iconic mask this week: Boston teenager Jalen Latimer.

On Wednesday Ashley Armstrong tweeted the video of a man clad in a red and blue spandex body suit with an arachnid on the back riding the Green Line D train with the caption: ‘Just another day on the #MTBA.’

He casually dangles several feet above the ground scrolling through his phone.

Hours later there was another Spider-Man sighting at a downtown T stop.

The web-slinger was seen in his signature crouching position while waiting on the platform, sporting bright red kicks and a black backpack.

There’s been a string of similar superhero sightings on the T in recent weeks, which should come as no surprise given the endless supply of oddball characters that can be found using public transportation on any given day.

The subway is frequently featured in scenes from the Spider-Man franchise films, which are based in New York City.

The sightings had led Bostonians to wonder if Peter Parker has officially moved away from his home in Queens to the Massachusetts capital, which has more than 90 percent fewer people to protect.

Patch.com revealed this week’s Spider-Man on Thursday

‘Well, it was me,’ Latimer told Patch.

‘I usually spend my days after work as Spidey.’

The 19-year-old said he bought the costume for Comic Con last year, where he was introduced to the world of cosplay.

Latimer, who works at a Chipotle and movie theater, now owns three different Spidey suits and loves to travel around the city as the superhero.

‘I used to have extreme social anxiety and cosplay was just a way to get away from it all. I can interact with people and am able to have fun. I’m the character. I’m not Jalen,’ he said.
