Sport Relief 2018: Davina McCall beats Joe Wicks

She’s known for her love of keeping fit, often seen flaunting her rock hard abs and taking to the nearest yoga mat for a downward dog or two.

And Davina McCall demonstrated her fitness prowess once again on Sport Relief’s live 2018 broadcast on BBC One on Friday night.

The former Big Brother host had taken part in a challenge against Lean In 15 star Joe Wicks, who is known for his life-changing fitness regimes.

Yet their challenge – which tallied up which celebrity had racked up the most steps over the same period of time – revealed just how fit Davina, 50, is.

Announcing the winners, Gary Lineker revealed that Joe, 31, had done an impressive 1, 153, 206, 232 steps.

And while this is nothing to sniff at, Davina did a considerably larger number, reaching 1, 629, 018, 994.

The Million Pound Drop presenter looked flabbergasted as she realised she had beaten the personal trainer.

The result will surely affirm her desire to become a qualified PT herself – having recently passed her Level Two exam for the qualification.

Since quitting drugs at the age of 25, Davina has also quit smoking and drinking, and has inspired others with her incredible fitness regime.

She recently appeared on the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast and candidly revealed that she wanted her children to find out about her drug struggles before they heard it from their friends or classmates.

She said: ‘I’ve had to be very honest about my past with the children – especially now they have access to the internet.

‘Actually, I had to be brutally honest quite early on when I thought other kids might talk to them about it. They grew up with ‘Mummy’s going to a meeting’ – they just didn’t know it was a Narcotics Anonymous meeting.

‘They were all really very accepting. They’d say, ”We thought it was something like that. Is that why you don’t drink?”’

Sport Relief, which is the UK’s biggest charity event featuring the brightest stars in sports and entertainment, saw the stars coming together with the public to engage in physical fitness activities and raise funds for people in need of aid, both in the United Kingdom and across the world.

The event is an association between Comic Relief and BBC Sport and was established in 2002.
