Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model breastfeeds her daughter at NYFW Rebecca Minkoff show

The model who went viral for walking in the 2018 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit show while breastfeeding her daughter made an appearance during the New York Fashion Week — and her child was by her side again.

Mara Martin, 33, strutted down the catwalk for the 2018 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit show in Miami, Florida, last year while nursing her then-six-month-old daughter Aria at the same time.

This year, she was hired on by designer Rebecca Minkoff to appear in the brand’s New York Fashion Week presentation — where Mara also breastfeed her daughter, who turned one in January, while modeling the clothing.

Rebecca Minkoff held a presentation on Saturday during New York Fashion Week, for which models were scattered in various rooms for attendees to then walk through.

Mara was one model to turn heads during the presentation, as she sat in chair with her daughter strewn across her lap while she breastfeed. A breast pump was also situated next to the chair where Mara sat.

The mother was modeling a blue and black zebra print dress throughout the entire exhibit, and her daughter was in a matching outfit.

On Instagram this past weekend, Mara shared the moment and praised Rebecca Minkoff for including her in the Fashion Week — as she described the moment as ‘major’ for her career.

‘When @rebeccaminkoff asked me to be a part of her show as a model and mother while nursing Aria I immediately said yes,’ Mara wrote.

‘She wanted me to represent the working mom for her during part of her show, because that’s what I am.’

Mara went on to praise Rebecca for what she stood for as not only a business woman, but also as a mother and wife.

‘As women we wear many hats, Rebecca being a prime example of that,’ she continued. ‘She is a mother, wife, designer, business woman, and all around boss. She is the example I am constantly looking up to. So proud to be a small part of your vision. Congratulations on an incredible show and thank you for including us.’

The Instagram page for the designer brand also praised working moms by sharing multiple pictures from the event.

‘An ode to all the modern, working women. We stand with you,’ the brand wrote while sharing an image of Mara with other models in their presentation room.

Mara first made headlines with her daughter last year when she strutted down the catwalk in a gold swimsuit while nursing her daughter.

Although some deemed the moment as a publicity stunt at the time, Mara revealed the situation was entirely ‘organic’ because of how the fashion show kept getting pushed back.

‘It was an organic moment,’ Mara told Good Morning America last year. ‘The show was being pushed back and I was feeding her. I’m so glad it started this conversation worldwide.’

She said the show-runners allowed for her to just continue to breastfeed her daughter onstage.

‘It’s an awesome conversation starter of normalizing breastfeeding, body positivity and being comfortable in your own skin. If you guys have a dream don’t let anything get in the way of it.’

People online praised both Mara and Rebecca Minkoff for partnering together for the fashion presentation to show support for working moms.
