‘Squad’ member Ayanna Pressley sparks anger by calling for ‘unrest in the streets’ in response to threats to the postal system

A high-profile member of the ‘squad’ of progressive new Democrat congresswomen has sparked anger by calling for ‘unrest in the streets’.
Ayanna Pressley, representative for Massachusetts, told Saturday’s edition of AM Joy on MSNBC that she wanted the protests, sparked by concern over changes to the postal service, to continue.
‘I’m looking to the public,’ said Pressley, 46, speaking to guest host Tiffany Cross.
‘This is as much about public outcry and organizing and mobilizing and applying pressure so that this GOP-led Senate and these governors that continue to carry water for this administration, putting the American people in harm’s way, turning a deaf ear to the needs of our families and our communities — hold them accountable.
‘Make the phone calls, send the emails, show up.
‘You know, there needs to be unrest in the streets for as long as there’s unrest in our lives.’

Protests have taken place outside both homes owned by the Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy
Pressley – a member of the so-called ‘squad’ along with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib – was talking about Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, who she said should resign for ‘corruption.’
The USPS Inspector General reportedly initiated an investigation of DeJoy last week after a group of eight Senate Democrats, led by Elizabeth Warren, demanded it look into changes he has made that slow mail delivery.
The issue of the postal service has become a political football, with Democrats accusing Donald Trump of deliberately hampering the post service in order to disenfranchise voters in November, and Republicans backing Trump’s claim that mail-in voting could lead to massive electoral fraud.
Conservatives on Twitter quickly condemned Pressley’s remarks as ‘unhinged,’ ‘horrible’ and ‘disgusting.’
Matt Walsh, a right-wing blogger, said her remarks were ‘pure evil’.
