Staffordshire man caught driving with huge wheelie bin attached to his car

  • Staffordshire Police tweeted footage of incident near M6/A34 junction
  • People carrier filmed moving slowly with hazard lights flashing at 4.45am
  • Police tweeted: ‘Driver’s rubbish excuse was that the bin had not been emptied so he was dragging it to the recycling centre’

Someone had a commercial-size wheelie bin – and clearly couldn’t wait for collection day. So they decided to take matters into their own hands.

This incredible footage shows the moment a man’s car was caught trundling down a main road – with the large green waste bin attached to the rear of his people carrier with rope cables.

Staffordshire Police tweeted the clip of the vehicle after it was spotted heading in the direction of the M6 on the A34.

Staffordshire Police tweeted the clip of the people carrier after it was spotted heading in the direction of the M6 on the A34, with its hazard lights on

Posted at 4.45am this morning, it shows the car travelling in the darkness with its hazard lights on.

The accompanying message on the Staffs Dogs & ARV post read: ‘This is a wheelie quick way to get yourself stopped by the Police.

‘The driver’s rubbish excuse was that the bin had not been emptied so he was dragging it to the recycling centre. #whatwereyouthinking’.

One commenter replied: ‘At least he tried something instead of fly tipping it.’

It is not known whether the bin in question – which appeared to be either a 660-litre or 1100-litre receptacle – was due for a weekly or fortnightly collection.

MailOnline has contacted Staffordshire Police for comment.
