A stag that spent years happily grazing in a Queensland town has been found decapitated at the side of a road.
Yvonne Barlow found the animal on a Kurwongbah road on Monday, and believes the head was taken as a trophy, the Pine Rivers Press reported.
‘We would regularly see them… they never caused any problems,’ she said.

She told the publication that she heard a loud bang, believed to be a gunshot, at about 10pm on Sunday.
‘I’m really upset that the animal has met its end in this way just because someone wanted its head as a trophy,’ Ms Barlow said.
‘It’s disgusting for it to be treated this way’.
Senior Sergeant Dale Morrow said the stag was most likely hit by a vehicle.
They are still unsure as to why the head was missing.
