Stan Walker and his wife Lou announce that they are expecting their first child together

Singer Stan Walker married his longtime girlfriend Lou Tyson in September.

And on Saturday, the Australian Idol winner, 31, announced they are expecting their first child together.

The New Zealand crooner revealed his exciting news via Instagram, uploading a sweet photo of the couple and Te Puuwairua, Walker’s stepson, smiling at Lou’s baby bump.

‘Ending the year with a new beginning… We can’t wait to meet you, our pēpi [Maori word for baby]’.

It comes after the Bigger hit-maker revealed that it took him 15 attempts for Lou to pop the question to his long-time girlfriend.

He told New Idea he would often ask Lou to marry him but it was just him being romantic, so when he finally proposed for real, she wasn’t sure what to say. 

‘We already knew that we were going to get married. It wasn’t a matter of if but when,’ he said.

‘So that was my joke, but I never was joking, I was like, ‘Will you marry me?’ and she goes, ‘Yes,’ but when I actually asked her [for real], I was like, ‘No, really, I’m asking you properly now.’

‘And then I just said my little thing and got emotional and said: ‘Will you marry me?’ and she said ‘Yes’.’ 

Stan announced their engagement in his new music video in September, which showcased his beautiful wedding.

Lou’s son was the pageboy, and both their parents were in attendance.

The couple had been planning a big event with hundreds of guests, but with Covid-19 restrictions in Australia and New Zealand, they opted for a low-key ceremony.

Lou wore a white dress, while Stan donned loose-fitting silk pants and a shirt.

Stan’s new single Matemateāone was brought to life with a beautifully shot music video of the couple’s special day, including the their wedding vows.

Walker was crowned winner of the seventh and last season of Australian Idol in 2019.

Stan announced his engagement to Lou in December 2020 by sharing a photo happily beaming alongside his fiancée, who is a model and business graduate, as she showed off her stunning sparkler.

‘When you know, you sometimes still don’t know lol. But with you I always knew,’ he wrote in the caption.

‘She said yes after like the 15th time hahaha. No person I’d rather spend the rest of my life with than you.’

The season seven Idol winner continued: ‘My best mate. The one I can be my ultimate, weird, dramatic, emotional, true, honest self with.

‘I can truthfully say, I have found my soulmate. I love you my fiancée. 

‘Mo ake tonu ake,’ he concluded, which translates to ‘forever and ever’ in Maori.

The brunette beauty also shared the same image and message, but wrote in her version: ‘With you I always knew… I said YES!!’
