A children’s playground has been closed off after deadly asbestos was found just metres nearby.
Asbestos-contaminated soil was found along Barwon Valley Fun Park and the Frederick Morton Reserve in Belmont, Geelong, Victoria.
Some asbestos was found on the road and council is unsure how it got there, Herald Sun reported.
There was no warning sign either and diggers were seen working near the site and claimed they were unaware of the risk.

Asbestos fibres are around 50 to 200 times thinner than a human hair, can be invisible and be breathed in easily, according to the Cancer Council.

City Hall director of city services Guy Wilson-Browne said the council was aware of the problem and were working to have it cleared.
‘Four bags of asbestos were removed from an area near the Barwon Valley Fun Park earlier this year,’ he told the publication.
‘The city is in discussions with other authorities to ensure this is safely removed.
‘The source of the identified asbestos is unknown.’
