Stars attend Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’s London premiere

Lead stars Daisy Ridley and John Boyega led the star-studded arrivals at the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premiere at Cineworld in Leicester Square, London, on Wednesday evening.

The actress, 27, who plays the formidable Rey in the franchise, pulled out all of the stops for her turn on the red carpet, as she ensured all eyes were on her as she posed for snaps at the highly-anticipated screening.

The star opted for a structured navy velvet corset style dress which highlighted her svelte physique with its figure-hugging style, while also boasting a dramatic following skirt attached around the waist.

She styled her ensemble with a pair of black satin stilettos and otherwise accessorised the look with a selection of costume jeweller, including a plethora of chunky silver and jewel rings.

Daisy wore her brunette tresses swept back off her pretty features into cool slicked back style, while opting for a glamorous coat of make-up including a subtle grey smokey-eye look and a slick of plum lipstick.

Standing beside her on the red carpet, John referenced his Nigerian heritage in a stunning blue ensemble with gold detailing as he opted for traditional dress for his appearance at the premiere.

Marking his return to the franchise following a 30 year absence was Billy Dee Williams, who is best known for his role of Lando Calrissian which he has revived for the final instalment of the story.

Billy cut a dapper figure in a grey velvet blazer teamed with a pair of smart cream chinos and a plush neck scarf in the same hue as his opulent jacket.

Teasers from the new film hinted that Warwick Davis may also reprise his role of Wicket the Ewok, and judging by his appearance at the premiere it seemed likely he will star – however he reportedly will not.

Warwick looked full of beans as he accompanied his wife Samantha and their grown up children to the premiere.

Warwick and Samantha posed alongside son Harrison, 16, and daughter Samantha, 23, as they made their way into the European debut screening of the latest chapter in the intergalactic epic.

Warwick has played an array of characters over the Star Wars film series, and in fact does not feature in The Rise Of Skywalker.

The 49-year-old’s daughter Annabelle has followed in her father’s footsteps and has acted in the likes of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows – Part 2, TV series The Dumping Ground and also in the Star Wars franchise.

She was in 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens and then 2017’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi – as did her father.

Discussing saying goodbye to the franchise, Warwick told MailOnline: ‘Yeah, you know return of the Jedi we felt that was it then, and then of course the prequels came along and we’ve had these new movies as well.

‘It’s more poignant tonight though I think because it’s obviously the conclusion of these nine films and we won’t be making anymore Skywalker films and also it’s the conclusion of that story as well which is quite emotional.’

‘There’s loads of memories I’ve got to dig deep to find them again, there was so much going on in that film for me. It’s really always about the people, it’s about the cast and crew that you work with and those people being rich and steeped in Star Wars history themselves.

‘Some of those people I worked with when I was 11, and here I am and working with them all one again. For me is always about the people.’

As yet, little as been revealed about Keri’s character Zorri, who is said to be an an ‘old friend’ of Poe Dameron [Oscar Isaac] apart from the fact she dons a seriously cool red and gold suit throughout the film and never removes her helmet.

Rose Tico actor Kelly Marie Tran first appeared in the franchise during episode eight, The Last Jedi, and is set to return as Resistance fighter who first met Finn while working as a mechanic.

Domhnall Gleeson, who plays resident baddie General Hux, cut a dashing figure in a blue tweed suit with a crisp white shirt teamed with a blue tie and layered with a smart jacket.

Detailing his portrayal of Hux, he told MailOnline: ‘It was great, I think the stuff that he’s doing you can’t really play, you know what I mean? A lot of it is under the surface so you’ve just got to get on with business as usual for the lot of it, but it was great fun! Knowing where it’s headed is part of the joy.’

He also discussed working with screen icon Richard E. Grant, and said: ‘I’ve worked with him before, I’m a big fan of his, we worked on a film together called About Time. I love him to bits, I’m a huge fan of his.’

Also in attendance was current Chewbacca actor Joonas Suotamo, who took to the red carpet alongside his glamorous wife Danielle Jonas, who displayed her blossoming baby bump in a flowing white sequined dress.

Talking about playing Chewbecca following the death of original actor, Peter Mayhew, he said: ‘It was heartbreaking because of what’s happened in real life, but to really on the day I remember being nervous about that and I’m glad it turned out the way we did, and it’s a beautiful scene and a beautiful film. I can’t wait for people to experience it.’

The Rise Of Skywalker is the last film in the nine-episode run of movies that first began in 1977 in with Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope.

The film hopes to tie together the numerous loose ends that have been left unanswered, from the originals to Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi.

While the plot has to mostly be kept under wraps, it can be said that the film sees Emperor Palpatine return, with Rey (Daisy Ridley) and The Resistance trying to find him, while Supreme Leader Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) is also on the trail.

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker is set to be released on December 19 in the U.K. and December 20 in the U.S.
