A heartbroken father has revisited the scene where his step son’s body was discovered seven weeks after he vanished.

The search for 23-year-old Dylan Bartlett ended in tragedy on Monday when his body was found in a shopping centre toilet block air-duct in southern Adelaide.

Mr Bartlett was last seen on the morning of September 9 at his home in Noarlunga Downs – 30km from Adelaide.

His step-dad Troy Wisman was seen at the Noarlunga Homemaker Centre on Wednesday where he lay single red and white roses in memory of Mr Bartlett.

South Australia police don’t know how Mr Bartlett’s body came to be in the vent but say at this stage they aren’t treating the death as suspicious.

Mr Bartlett’s friend Renae Coombe remembered him as a ‘friendly, happy person who was always so lovely’.

Police were called to Noarlunga Homemaker Centre at around 4.40pm on Monday after a body was found in a toilet block’s air duct.

Police identified the body as belonging to the young man in a statement on Wednesday.

South Australia Police said they are unsure why Mr Bartlett’s body was in the air-duct.

However, they are not treating the death as suspicious.

Mr Bartlett’s stepfather Troy Wisman was seen laying flowers at the scene.

‘Yesterday I got a phone call and that was it, he was found,’ he told Nine News.

He broke down in tears as he continued to speak of his stepson.

‘I don’t think he was trying to break in, I think he was hiding. I’m not entirely sure [why he was in the air-duct],’ Mr Wisman said.

He said that was just his opinion and the investigation is ongoing.

A report is being prepared for the coroner.
