Steph McGovern and Gemma Atkinson shock viewers as they strip NAKED on lunchtime show

Steph McGovern took the bold move of stripping naked on the set of her Channel 4 show Steph’s Packed Lunch on Friday, as the star discussed naturism.

The presenter, 38, and her guests Gemma Atkinson, 36, and politician Alan Johnson, 70, were among those who peeled off their garments in the Leeds studio.

Comedian Luke Kempner read the One O’Clock Views without his clothes on, while John Whaite also took on the role of serving as the resident naked chef and gardener Michael Perry stepped out clothing-free on Leeds Dock.

The moment was only fleeting in each case for viewers, as McGovern, Atkinson and Johnson were seen sitting on chairs naked, with strategically cushions shielding their modesty, as the show cut to a commercial break.

Steph also sat down for an interview with Stephanie McManus, who spoke about the tough journey she endured on the road to embracing naturism.

McManus said: ‘I haven’t had any negative comments at all, because who I’m being when I’m talking about it is I’m being powerful, I’m being empowering, I’m being liberating. And people see that.

‘They feel that and they’re just amazed and so happy for me because they’ve seen the struggles I’ve been through with my anorexia, my binge eating disorder, even struggling through bodybuilding.

‘So I’m just a completely different person and they’re in love with that, to the point where my mother has framed a photo of me naked and put it on her wall, which the last person I thought would really embrace my nudity.’

Back in February, McGovern admitted she told a cheeky lie about having live TV experience to get a job on BBC Breakfast.

The TV personality joined the morning show in 2010 and stayed until she left to work with Channel 4 in 2019.

Revealing her fib on Steph’s Packed Lunch, she explained that she didn’t tell her employers until 10 seconds before going on air for the first time.

Speaking candidly, Steph told guest Chris Kamara: ‘I remember when I got the job of presenting Breakfast news, I’d been asked, “Have you ever done live TV before?” And I said yes… and I hadn’t.’

Laughing off the white lie, she added: ‘You’ve got to blag it sometimes in life and I told them 10 seconds before we went to air.’

Steph explained that her first time on air for the show was with Susanna Reid, with it being a big shock to the director when she made the revelation.

‘I’ve got a count in my ear now and it was a bit like this… Susanna Reid said “Good luck” and I said “Thanks”, she said, “But you’ve done live TV before?”

‘And I said, “No I haven’t” and the director gasped in my ear’, Steph admitted.

Since working on BBC Breakfast, Steph as appeared on several shows including Shop Well For Less, Have I Got News For You and Watchdog.

The journalist is now hosting her own daytime show – Steph’s Packed Lunch – which sees her chat to a range of stars.
