Steps star Lee Latchford-Evans has revealed that he’s become a father for the first time after his wife Kerry-Lucy gave birth to a baby boy, after they previously suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the singer, 46, shared the happy news by posting a black and white snap of the couple holding the hands of their newborn boy.

He wrote alongside the image: ‘Welcome to the world baby boy. Me & your mummy @kerrylucyinsta are so in love! You’re everything we could have wished for & more, Our perfect rainbow baby.’

Meanwhile, new mum Kerry shared the same image and message on her own Instagram.

In April this year, the couple told of their joy at expecting a baby after a heartbreaking miscarriage.

The couple, who married in 2012, revealed earlier this year that Kerry-Lucy was expecting their first child.

Appearing on Loose Women, Kerry-Lucy, 36, admitted she had to do three pregnancy tests before she could convince her husband it was positive.

She said: ‘I had to do three tests to convince Lee it was positive. The first was a faint line. I told him I think I’m pregnant and he said no. I got another one and the line was thick but he didn’t believe it.’

Lee added: ‘I didn’t believe it so the next day Kerry did a digital test so I couldn’t argue with that one. So far, it’s all going well.

‘We were on Loose Women when Kerry was pregnant and I just wanted to tell everyone!’

Lee also discussed telling his Steps bandmates Claire Richards, Ian ‘H’ Watkins, Faye Tozer and Lisa Scott Lee.

He recalled: ‘It was wonderful telling them. We were on Zoom playing the year ahead and I told them I was going to be busy and put the scan up.

‘They were crying with tears of joy. There was so much going on – I filmed it to show to Kelly.’

Lee currently has his hands full promoting Steps’ latest album What The Future Holds, with Kerry-Lucy admitting it will be ‘really difficult’ when the band’s tour begins.

She explained: ‘He’ll only be a couple of months old so it’ll be really difficult. I’m going to love being on tour as much as I’m going to hate being away when it happens.

Discussing their miscarriage as well as both of them losing a parent, Kerry-Lucy added: ‘The last years have been tough, I lost my mum and he lost his dad and also a pet. We had four months of hell.

Lee added: ‘It’s been tough but it’s brought us closer together.’

Asked if they had any names picked out yet, the singer played coy and said: ‘We do have some names but it’s a top secret.’

The couple went through unimaginable heartache three years ago which saw Lee’s father die and Kerry-Lucy’s mum passing away before they then lost their baby – all in the space of four months.

Discussing how they then felt amid other people’s baby joy, Lee previously explained to OK! magazine: ‘We’ve wanted a baby for so long. We did start thinking, “Why isn’t this working for us? What’s wrong with us?” You doubt each other slightly, but luckily we have a very strong relationship.

‘We went through a time where all of our friends were pregnant and people were always walking past us with prams and I guess we hated that and had a bit of resentment towards them, which I know we shouldn’t but it was difficult and frustrating.’

The Deeper Shade Of Blue singer told how although he was always ‘quite positive’ in life, he found it difficult to do so amid their tragic time as they’d gone through ‘so much’.

He added that he also found it hard doing TV interviews with Steps where they were asked about their children as he recalled: ‘I had to live with that’.

It comes after his fellow Steps star Lisa Scott-Lee has been pictured in her new role as the headteacher of a performing arts school in Dubai which has 600 pupils.

The Steps star, 45, took on the job after moving to the UAE permanently with her husband Johnny Shentall, 42, and their children Jaden, 13, and Star Lily, 11, in 2011.

The singer looked in her element as she posed for snaps at the Dubai Performing Arts Academy.

Lisa cut a stylish figure as she donned a white blazer with a matching shorts which she paired with a dark grey top.

The hitmaker added height to her frame with a pair of nude heels while she also sported a silver necklace.

In another shot, Lisa posed on stage with some of the students at the academy as they raised their fists in the air.

The couple launched the Dubai Performing Arts Academy in 2014, which Lisa runs as well as still working with the band ahead of the release of their seventh album.

She told The Mirror: ‘Steps is my life. It has been my life for the last 24 years, but being principal of the school is my day job.

‘I can never switch off. Even when I’m with Steps, rehearsing or shooting a video, I’ll be working on my laptop. It’s become a bit of a running joke. I have to flip between my Steps hat and principal hat, which can be really hard and stressful at times.

‘I get on the plane as principal Lisa and get off the plane as pop star Lisa.’

The centre caters for children aged three to 18 and offers pupils the chance to gain a BTEC qualification in Performing Arts.

Lisa told the publication she is not out in Dubai ‘sunning herself’ but that she works six days a week to make sure the day-to-day running of the school goes smoothly.

She added that although she is mostly ‘office-based’ now she still teaches singing and dance lessons and she feels ‘really proud’ when she tells people she’s a teacher.

Lisa and her Hear’Say star husband Johnny moved to Dubai in 2011 and she says some people over there still sometimes recognise her from being in Steps.

She explained that sometimes people will start singing their hit song Tragedy at her, but most of the time she is simply ‘Miss Lisa’.

Lisa flew back to the UK in October to promote Steps’ new studio album, What the Future Holds alongside bandmates Claire Richards, Lee Latchford-Evans, Faye Tozer and Ian ‘H’ Watkins.

But she has not been able to return since as Dubai has been placed on the travel red list.

Lisa said: ‘It’s been really hard seeing the group perform without me, but I will definitely be back for the new album and our arena tour later this year.’

It comes after Steps announced the release of their seventh studio album at the start of last month.

Featuring ten brand-new, unheard songs, the 15-track record – set for a September 2021 release – will also feature the vocals of RuPaul’s Drag Race star Michelle Visage.

The iconic group announced the news in a YouTube video and also released the video for song Heartbreak In This City, which features Michelle.

The new album is a sequel to 2020’s What The Future Holds Pt 1, and will include new songs alongside five acoustic versions of recent hits.

Heartbreak in This City’s music video sees former Strictly star Michelle, 52, take on the role of ‘special agent’. The star is tasked with tracking down anyone experiencing heartbreak.

Steps’ new music video was choreographed by Mark Jennings and shot primarily in Manchester in line with pandemic restrictions.

Discussing the new release, Lisa – who filmed her scenes in Dubai – said: ‘We couldn’t have been more thrilled about the reaction to our What The Future Holds album last November, and the ongoing love from fans for all our single and video releases since.’

Faye Tozer, 45, added: ‘While lockdown has been really tough, we were fortunate enough to use the time to record a load of brand-new songs for you all!

‘What originally started as a deluxe version of the album has now become a full new record.’

Ian ‘H’ Watkins, 44, branded one of the group’s upcoming tracks ‘an electronic anthem’.

Speaking of his favourite songs, the singer said: ‘Some of our favourites include Take Me For A Ride which has a proper 80s vibe and A Hundred Years of Winter which is an icy electronic anthem written by our friend, the brilliant songwriter Darren Hayes from Savage Garden.’

Steps split in 2001 after achieving fourteen consecutive top 5 singles, sold over 20 million records and reached Number One with three albums and three singles.

They are BRIT award winning and hold the record for the most consecutive sold-out nights at Wembley.

After a brief reunion in 2011, they embarked on a sell-out 12 date arena tour and the releasing their fourth album, before going on hiatus.

Steps dominated the charts in the 90s and early 00’s with hits such as 5,6,7,8, Tragedy, Better The Devil You Know and Love’s Got A Hold Of My Heart.

They were due to tour their new album What the Future Holds Pt 1 but were forced to postpone it because of the coronavirus pandemic.

‘Performing live has always been our favourite part of being in Steps. We had the most fun of our career on tour,’ the band told Daily Mail Australia in September.’
