Steve Harvey flubs Miss Universe AGAIN after naming Miss Philippines a winner instead of Malaysia

Steve Harvey made another awkward blunder while hosting this year’s Miss Universe pageant by naming the wrong winner in the national costume category.

During the segment, Harvey announced Miss Philippines as the winner as the actual winner, Miss Malaysia, stood beside him.

In a very awkward moment, Shweta Sekhon grabbed the mic from the host and corrected him.

‘It’s not Philippines, it’s Malaysia’, she told the 62-year-old entertainer, who also is a game show host and author.

Harvey immediately blamed a teleprompter malfunction.

The real winner, however, was Miss Malaysia, Shweta Sekhon, whose costume didn't match the image Harvey had seen off a teleprompter, which was of the contestant from the Phillippines

Zozibini Tunzi, Miss South Africa, was crowned the new Miss Universe 2019.

Harvey’s latest flub, however, drew attention away from the contest’s top winner, primarily because it was reminiscent of when he made the mistake of naming Miss Colombia the winner of the 2015 Miss Universe pageant when Miss Philippines had won the crown.

The crowd at the time watched in horror as the crown had to be removed from the head of one contestant and placed on another on live television.

Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez wiped away tears of joy as a $30,000 blue diamond and topaz crown was placed upon her head and she was named Miss Universe 2015, winning the title for her country for the second year in a row.

Only to have it taken away about two minutes later.

Just as Gutierrez was blowing kisses and waving to her adoring fans she was informed that it was actually Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach who had won the crown instead.

Harvey strolled up on stage, the shame already evident on his face, when he told the crowd ‘Folks, I have to apologize’.

‘The first runner-up is Colombia’, he announced.

Miss Philippines stared wide-eyed at the audience, her lip quivering as Miss USA whispered into her ear and she realized what exactly those words meant.

‘Miss Universe 2015’, Harvey then dramatically clarified, ‘Is Miss Philippines.’

Sekhon made sure that wasn’t happening again when she knew she was the winner, standing in the national costume that took the honors on stage during the latest pageant.

The costume was colorful and adorned with food. By contrast, the entry from the Phillippines appeared to be grayish in color with a feather scheme, in an image that was broadcast during his announcement.

'Let me explain something to you. I just read that in the teleprompter,' Harvey told a stern-looking Miss Malaysia about his latest flub. Shweta Sekhon remained gracious about the mix-up, which Harvey called 'crazy'

‘Ya’ll got to quit doing this to me. I can read. Now, they are trying to fix it now. See? This is what they did to me back in 2015, played me short like that’, Harvey nervously chirped.

‘That’s crazy’, he added.
