Steve says he lost 7 kilos after his 40 days and night’s eating only rice and coconut on Survivor

Steve ‘Commando’ Willis was booted off Australian Survivor on Tuesday night.

And speaking to the The Daily Telegraph on Wednesday, the 42-year-old opened up about his time on the grueling show.

The personal trainer said he was surprised to have only lost 7kg during his time in the jungle, having lived off just rice and coconut.

‘Seven kilos doesn’t sound like a lot, but I was quite surprised that it wasn’t more for me,’ Steve told the publication.

‘You start to look quite withdrawn and gaunt,’ he revealed.

The Biggest Loser star went on to say: ‘The lack of food didn’t challenge me as much as I thought it would.’

Meanwhile, the candid interview comes after Steve revealed the one ‘controversial’ rule partner Michelle Bridges had for him before he filmed the show.

In August, Commando discussed his ladylove’s strict rule during an appearance on The Living Room.

‘Actually, it wasn’t no cuddling, it was no spooning!’ the 42-year-old clarified to the show’s host Amanda Keller.

‘So with no spooning, I was like, “OK, I can deal with that.” But I gave out plenty of cuddles and hugs!’ he stated.

‘For body warmth, of course!’ joked The Living Room’s co-host Dr. Chris Brown.

Commando then explained that he gave his teammate, Olympic legend Shane Gould, a big bear hug when she beat a rival in a wrestling challenge.

‘I gave her a cuddle and a kiss on the cheek for a job well done in one of the challenges. You know, Shane, is 61 years of age and she took out a girl in her 20s,’ he explained.

Elsewhere in the interview, Commando revealed that the most grueling part of Australian Survivor was not the physical challenges or going without adequate food.

Rather, it was the mental anguish that proved to be the toughest part of the experience.

‘It (the experience) just gets to your mind. It becomes a bit of a groundhog day. It takes a bit to pull yourself out of,’ he reminisced.
