Steve Smith spellbound at the Australian Open

He’s the captain of the Australian cricket team.

But it appears Steve Smith might be more than a little enthusiastic about another summer sport.

Spotted at the Australian Open on Tuesday, the 28-year-old and his fiancée Dani Willis, 26, were nothing short of spellbound as they sat courtside.

Date night! Australian cricket captain Steve Smith, 28, and his fiancée Dani Willis, 26, were positively spellbound watching Rafael Nadal battle it out with Croatian player Marin Čilić at the Australian Open on Tuesday

The cricketer and his girlfriend were positively glued to the match, watching Spaniard Rafael Nadal battle it out with Croatian player Marin Čilić, which saw Nadal shockingly retire from the tournament.

Obviously enjoying the game, the pair made for a stylish couple, with Dani opting for a frilled pink-and-black dress with a white quilted Chanel handbag, wearing her blonde hair lightly curled.

Meanwhile, Steve opted for a smart casual look, choosing a tailored white jacket and pale blue shirt, which he paired with navy blue chinos and a black belt, for the nail-biting match.

Obviously a warm day, the pair clutched on to their water bottles, Steve sipping from his coffee now and then.

The pair were obviously in their element, having been snapped earlier this week watching the men’s singles fourth round match between South Korea’s Hyeon Chung and Serbia’s Novak Djokovic.

Steve appeared to be enjoying the match, but still found time to chat to Dani.

As they waited for the game to begin, Dani whipped out her iPhone to film some footage for her Instagram page.

Dani, 26, accepted Steve’s marriage proposal in June while on a short visit to New York between the Aussie cricket captain’s busy match schedules.

But while the pair’s life may seem glamorous, Dani revealed to the Daily Telegraph in December that there’s a lot of work that goes into being the ‘perfect WAG.’

Since the couple got engaged, Dani graduated from a commerce-law degree and landed a spot at a Sydney firm all while accompanying Smith on a number of local and international tours, including last year’s Ashes campaign.

Though social and outgoing, the bubbly blonde has been able to cater to the cricketer’s almost robotic routine.

Dani said while on a recent trip to Dubai, the pair stayed in the same hotel room for almost a month.

And honestly, of those 22 nights we ate room service for dinner for 20,’ she said.

‘But that’s Steve, you know. He likes to bunker down.’
