Steven Spielberg and Paul McCartney go see Oppenheimer together in the Hamptons
Director Steven Spielberg and music legend Paul McCartney decided to beat the summer heat by taking in the new movie Oppenheimer on Tuesday.
The 76-year-old filmmaker and the 81-year-old Beatles bassist and singer were spotted at a movie theater in the Hamptons on Monday.
Both Spielberg and McCartney own homes in the Hamptons area and have been friends for many years.
They were both seen to be in good spirits while chatting together outside of the movie theater.
The outing comes just a month after Spielberg admitted he ‘felt very helpless’ as his E.T. star Drew Barrymore was ‘robbed of her childhood’ on the set.

The director and musician have been friends for many years, with Spielberg opening up earlier this year about how a Beatles song McCartney wrote helped his love life in college.
Spielberg revealed in a chat with BBC Radio 4 that the track Michelle from the 1965 album Rubber Soul helped him make out with a girl he liked during his freshman year of college.
‘I was a freshman in college, and there was a girl I liked a lot. She would agree to let me take her out to dinner, or to a jazz club, or out to a movie, but she would never ever, ever let me kiss her,’ Spielberg began.

‘And we were driving back from someplace, and we pulled into the big parking lot by the dorms on the college campus at Long Beach,’ he continued.
‘Michelle came on. I think we heard it for the first time together on the radio, and the melody is just heart-achingly beautiful,’ he continued.
‘I look over at her, and she’s got tears in her eyes, and just before the song is over, she jumps over on my side of the car and starts kissing me,’ the director said.
‘And when I got to know Paul [McCartney] a number of years ago, that was one of the first stories I ever told him!’ Spielberg added.
