Steven Yeun and Ali Wong are all smiles on the red carpet for their Netflix series Beef

Steven Wong and Ali Wong are the most bitter of enemies in their new series Beef, but they were all smiles on the red carpet.

The 39-year-old Yeun and 40-year-old Wong – who revealed she and Yeun broke out in hives after filming the series – were in good spirits as they hit the red carpet at the premiere, held at Netflix’s TUDUM Theater in Hollywood.

They were joined by others such as co-star David Choe, series creator Lee Sung Jin and Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos on the red carpet.

Yeun stepped out in all black with a black t-shirt under a black suit coat, black pants and black pants.

The only non-black item he wore was a pair of white socks, completing his look with a pair of black dress shoes.

Wong opted for a more colorful look, with a blue, green and light purple minidress that fell to her knees.

The dress also seemed to feature some elaborate sleeves and a built-in train behind her.

The actress also rocked unique floral earrings and completed her look with a pair of pink platform pumps.

Beef centers on two random strangers who are involved in a road rage incident that begins to consume their lives.

Yeun plays Danny Cho, a failing contractor with a chip on his shoulder, with Wong playing Amy Lau, a self-made entrepreneur with a picturesque life.

‘The increasing stakes of their feud unravel their lives and relationships in this darkly comedic and deeply moving series,’ reads the series description.

Creator and showrunner Lee Sung Jin also recently offered his thoughts on the very succinct title that has nothing to do with food products.

‘There are surprisingly few catchy words or idioms that sell the feud aspect of the show, and the few that exist have been done before,’ he said.

‘The slang context of Beef plus the aesthetic appeal of a punchy one-word title led to the decision,’ the creator added.

The eight-episode series premiered at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas earlier this month, where Wong revealed the toll shooting the series took on both her and Yeun.

‘Steven and I both broke out in hives after the show. Mine was on my face. His was all over his body because he’s weak like that,’ she said.

She added, ‘It definitely took a toll on us, but we didn’t even realize until after the show ended. I mean, I won’t even talk about what happened to your elbow.’

Wong also admitted, ‘I don’t think we knew that was going to happen. If we knew what we were going to put our bodies and minds through, maybe we wouldn’t have said yes, but we’re really glad we did.’

Creator Lee Sung Jin also revealed the show was inspired by an actual bout of real road rage he went through.

‘It was with a white SUV. A BMW, not a Mercedes. It honked at me, cursed at me and drove away,’ he admitted.

‘And for some reason, on that day, I was like, “I’m gonna follow you.” It didn’t end like it did in the show — that’s why I’m here, able to talk to you today — but it definitely made me think about how we live in such subjective realities where we project onto people we don’t know,’ he said.
