Strictly’s Anton Du Beke urges the mole to STOP leaking the dance-off results

Anton Du Beke has urged the Strictly Come Dancing mole to stop spoiling the show’s results, amid claims bosses are refusing to change their format to prevent the leak.

The dancer, who is now on the judging panel, told the Loose Women panel that viewers ‘don’t want to know’ who gets eliminated before it airs during the Sunday results show, adding that it ‘gets on his nerves.’

It comes after sources claimed that bosses have decided they won’t be changing Strictly’s format to stop the mole from spoiling who gets dumped, and all plans to change their current results show plans have been dismissed.

Asked for his thoughts on the so-called ‘Strictly mole,’ Anton said: ‘It gets on my nerves. Please stop. I don’t know who you are but please stop. Don’t do it. Why would you do it? Nobody knows who it is.

‘The audience, like the people who go to The Mousetrap for example, which has been going for years, we’re all in it together.

‘Knowledge is power and all that sort of stuff, everyone has an agreement we won’t say anything, so I don’t know who does it.

Over the weekend, The Mail On Sunday reported that Strictly bosses are hunting for an audience mole who, before the Sunday night results show airs, leaks the identity of the celebrity who is voted off.

But it’s now been reported that options for BBC to film two live shows on separate nights or air the whole show on one night have been dismissed by show bosses.

The names are being passed to superfan Dave Thorp, who discloses them on his website – and tweets the link to his 55,000 followers around 11.30pm on Saturdays.

This weekend he revealed that Matt Goss, 54, was the third celebrity to be heading home after landing in the bottom two with his partner Nadiya Bychkova.

He faced Kym Marsh, 46, and Graziano Di Prima’s in the dance-off and the judges ultimately chose to send Matt home over the Coronation Street actress.

After the leak, Dave vowed to continue exposing the results every week, which is pre-recorded on Saturday and then aired on Sunday.

A TV insider said: ‘Some people have said the BBC should consider filming two live shows — one on Saturday and one on Sunday — but doing that would cost huge amounts of money.

‘Others have suggested that the results show should air directly after the main show, but that denies fans the chance of two helpings of their favourite programme over consecutive nights.

‘The lesser of the evils is simply to ignore any online chatter about who is in the dance off and who has been sent home. Or just ignore social media as much as possible.’

A representative for Strictly declined to comment when contacted by MailOnline.

Last week Twitter was inundated with advance posts that Radio 2’s Richie Anderson had been unexpectedly voted out after losing the dance-off to singer Fleur East.

A Strictly source told The Mail on Sunday: ‘For years, the majority of the audience didn’t twig that the Sunday show was pre-recorded, but recently the results have been leaked, spoiling the suspense. Those running the show want to find out who is leaking – and fast. What’s really baffling them is that it must be the same person each week.’

The Strictly audience at Elstree Studios have their phones taken away during filming. Tickets are given to friends and families of those taking part, and to members of the public drawn in a ballot.

But the weekly leak has put pressure on the BBC to revert to broadcasting the results show live on a Sunday, as it was until 2008. The scheduling was changed because the late Bruce Forsyth – then aged 80 – was struggling to host two nights in a row. The current presenters, Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, are 53 and 50.

Mr Thorp urged the Corporation to return to a live Sunday show. He said: ‘I’m just a fan who finds it ludicrous that when information can be transmitted in the blink of an eye, the BBC would still think it a good idea to pre-record the results show of their flagship reality series and broadcast it a whole day later.

‘If they don’t want the result to leak, there’s something very simple they can do – broadcast the results show live.’
