Strictly’s Dan Walker shares cosy throwback snaps with Nadiya Bychkova

He formed a strong friendship with Nadiya Bychkova during their time on Strictly Come Dancing. 

And Dan Walker reminisced about their fun times together as he shared throwback snaps from their time at a charity auction in October. 

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, the BBC Breakfast presenter, 44, reflected on the ‘great memories’ he had with Nadiya, 32, and their fundraising efforts.

Back in October, the pair bid a whopping £20,000 on a bear sculpture, forming part of a public arts exhibition that raises money for The Children’s Hospital Charity.

Earlier this week, the duo were able to see the statue in all its glory, and posed for snaps alongside the bear.

Sharing the images, Dan penned: ”Some great memories from that night. It was brilliant to be able to tell @nadiyabychkova about the work of @sheffieldchildrens and I’m glad she got to see the ‘glitter’ bear up close and personal.’

Dan shared the post alongside The Children’s Hospital Charity’s caption that read: ‘They might not have won the glitter ball, but they got the glitter bear! ✨

‘This week our final Bear from the @bearsofsheffieldtrail reached its forever home thanks to our wonderful patron, @mrdanwalker!

‘Dan and his Strictly Come Dancing partner of him, @nadiyabychkova, bid on Nano Bear for a whopping £20,000 at the Bears of Sheffield auction back in October.

‘The money raised from the auction helped to transform our Cancer Ward at Sheffield Children’s which opened to patients at the end of last year.

Great news: Earlier this week, the duo were able to see the statue in all its glory, and posed for snaps alongside the bear 

‘Dan said, “Sheffield Children’s holds a place very close to my heart, having been a patron for many years now, I am always in awe of the incredible work they do there. To be able to bid on a Bear, joined by my Strictly partner Nadiya, was an amazing thing.”

‘Nadiya continued, “The Bears of Sheffield auction was one of my favorite nights in Sheffield, and my first ever auction. The atmosphere was so exciting and to be able to bid on one of the Bears was an amazing feeling.

‘I’ve heard so much about Sheffield Children’s Hospital and to be able to support in some way was brilliant. We might not have won the glitter ball on Strictly, but we certainly got the glitter bear!”

‘Thank you both for your support!’

Out and about: Later in the day Nadiya was seen running errands in Liverpool and stopping off for a quick coffee and a snack ahead of another night on tour 

Keeping close: Nearby was Nadiya’s Kai Waddrington who made the most of his free time by heading out shopping 

Some alone time: While Nadiya and Kai are dating, they enjoyed some time to themselves as they explored the city 

Out and about: Amy Dowden was also seen heading out for some fresh air ahead of the show

The throwbacks come after Dan showed up to support Nadiya at the Strictly tour in Sheffield on Wednesday night. 

While Dan isn’t on the tour he has spent time with Nadiya and his Strictly stars while they performed.

On Tuesday, the presenter took Nadiya to play golf before enjoying a group meal, in which her new boyfriend Kai, 26, joined.

Pictures captured two nights prior showed an exhausted Kai looking frustrated as he talked to an ‘irritable’ Nadiya outside-with onlookers saying the tense exchange was over him not carrying her luggage into the four-star hotel.

The ‘disagreement’ comes two days after their relationship came to light and insiders think Kai’s frustration could be because he is upset at Nadiya for ‘downplaying their romance’ to keep the peace with her footballer ex fiancé­.

The row was said to have been sparked by the dancer’s refusal to carry Nadiya’s Gucci holdall through to reception.

An onlooker told The Sun: ‘It seemed to start over Kai not carrying Nadiya’s bags and she got irritable… 

‘But then it seemed to spiral a bit and they were both making it clear they weren’t happy.

‘It’s only been a few weeks but it looks like a bit of trouble in paradise. They both took separate hotel room keys, but nobody knows whether they shared.’

The insider added there could be tension between the lovebirds as Nadiya wants to downplay their romance to keep the peace with her footballer ex, ­Matija Škarabot. 

She shares daughter Mila, six, with the professional sportsman and the pair speak regularly despite her budding relationship with Kai, according to an insider.
