Strictly’s Katya Jones looks glum as she leaves her house after coronavirus isolation

Katya Jones couldn’t hide her mood as she was spotted running errands over the weekend.

The Strictly Come Dancing professional looked glum as she left her house following two weeks of isolation after her positve coronavirus test.

MailOnline revealed earlier this month that Katya, 31, and her celebrity partner, boxer Nicola Adams, 38, had been forced to pull out of the BBC show after the dancer contracted COVID-19.

Pictured on Saturday, Katya was seen taking bags of rubbish to her bin before enjoying some fresh air.

The usually glam dancer was dressed down in a padded red gilet, matching red trousers and a black baseball cap for her outing.

The dancer perked up when she started playing with her beloved pet dog on the grass outside her flat, beaming at the cute pooch.

Talking on last week’s Strictly spin-off show, It Takes Two, via video from her home, Nicola confirmed that she would be returning to the dance floor for one last dance with Katya.

Speaking to host Zoe Ball, she said: ‘I’m doing okay, thanks. It was a little bit frustrating not being able to continue and I’d just got back into the swing of things.

‘I was enjoying the dancing and everything but the rules are in place to keep everybody safe so I’m doing my part.’

Asked if the reports she would be returning to the show were true or not, Nicola confirmed that she would be having one last dance with Katya.

She said: ‘Well, you know, as my saying goes:  ‘I do like doing the most.’ Me and Katya will be coming back!’

To which host Zoe, 49, quickly clarified to dance for one last time rather than compete in the competition again.

Nicola also sweetly praised Katya and said that she has got a ‘friend for life’ with the two ‘helping each other out’ during their isolation period.

The former boxer said: ‘Katya has been such an amazing dance partner, I can’t thank her enough. I definitely feel like I’ve got a friend for life.

‘We’ve been keeping in touch, making TikToks and doing FaceTimes, everything, so we’ve been helping each other out.’

Nicola said that it was ‘weird’ watching Saturday’s episode of Strictly from her sofa at home and praised Anton Du Beke for his judging role.

The pro, 54, stepped in for Motsi Mabuse on the judging panel  as she isolates for 14 days after rushing home to Germany due to her dance school being ‘targeted’

Nicola said: ‘It was a bit weird not being a part of the show… I have to say though, everybody did amazing. There were 10s being thrown out and Anton did a great job as well!’

Katya was stunned to learn she tested positive as she didn’t display any symptoms, and is now convinced she must have caught the virus in a sandwich shop after telling bosses she hasn’t been mixing with others as she lives alone.

She and Nicola trained together on Monday and Tuesday last week – and Katya tested positive that day, according to sources.

Nicola is now isolating for two weeks, meaning she cannot be given a new partner and continue in the competition.

While the Strictly cast have been in social bubbles, they are allowed to continue their daily business as normal, with insiders now claiming ‘furious’ BBC bosses have vowed to tighten the rules for the remaining celebs.

A Strictly representative confirmed to MailOnline that bosses are not launching an investigation into how Katya contracted the virus as there is no way to indicate where she may have caught it.

They added that as the dancer lives alone and has only been leaving her house to train, she hasn’t been socialising with others.

This also means that the Strictly final next month will feature just four couples instead of the planned five.

Strictly bosses later confirmed in a statement that Nicola cannot return next series as she would have an ‘unfair advantage’ over the other celebrities.

The show introduced strict new measures to ensure filming could continue in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, including regular testing and placing the couples in separate ‘bubbles’ so they can train and perform together.

These ‘bubbles’ mean that any celebrity can openly mix, train and perform with their professional partner and vice versa, but they are prohibited from mixing with anyone from outside of their bubble during filming or training.

Shortly after Strictly confirmed news of the couple’s exit, Katya posted on Instagram that her ‘heart is broken’, before paying tribute to her partner.

Writing alongside a selfie of the pair, the dancer wrote: ‘My heart is broken I’m utterly gutted this Special journey had to end this way and you don’t get to give more.

‘You are a woman who didn’t need a hero, you became one. Definitely my hero. To everyone, thank you for your tremendous support and we will keep dancing for you guys one way or another.

‘Meanwhile, please stay safe everybody. And to all my friends who’re still in the show- go for it!’

Katya took to Instagram and told how she was saddened that her and Nicola were no longer taking part.

She wrote: ‘We’re going to miss being in the studio today! @nicolaadams and I would have been performing American Smooth to Stand by me. Good luck to all the couples and Anton tonight!! I’ll be watching.’

While Nicola said in a statement: ‘Hey guys! I’m absolutely devastated my Strictly journey has come to an end so soon. I had so much more to give and so many people to win this for!

‘But I just want to say a huge thank you to Katya for being the best dance partner anyone could ask for. She pushed me way out of my comfort zone and it’s been an incredible experience.

‘I’m gutted to be out of the competition but in these unprecedented times and as frustrating as it is, the COVID measures in place are to keep everyone safe, and I’m doing what I can to help.

‘I’ll be spending the next 14 days isolating so I’d like to apologise in advance for the ridiculous amount of TikToks I’ll be posting, in my new found free time when I’m not gaming!’

Nicola and Katya’s pairing made history as it was the first time in the show’s 16-year history a celebrity and professional partner of the same gender would be competing together.
