Under pressure Jose Mourinho has led his Manchester United side in training on Monday morning as they prepare for their Champions League clash against Spanish side Valencia.

The Portuguese boss was pictured leading his squad through the light session amid uncertainty over his future at the club following growing unrest among players. 

For Mourinho, the game against the La Liga side is must win as he aims to turn around what has been a difficult season so far for United.

The season plumbed new depths at the weekend as they were beaten 3-1 by West Ham in an abject performance.

It leaves them nine points off the top of the Premier League table after just seven games, their worst start for 29 years.

Midfielder Paul Pogba looked to be in good spirits though as he smiled during a fitness drill and juggled the ball in the air between exercises. 

Alexis Sanchez was also seen taking part after it was reported how he was furious after being dropped for the loss at the London Stadium.

Sanchez could be seen sulking throughout the game on Saturday afternoon, and was said to be was eager to make it clear to every member of United’s staff just how upset he was by the decision.

As Sportsmail revealed on Saturday night, staff believe Mourinho could be sacked by the end of this week following United’s poor run of form.

Players and staff were openly discussing the prospect of the manager losing his job as they made the journey back by train to Manchester on Saturday afternoon.

Mourinho was already reeling from a week in which his side were dumped out at the third-round stage of the Carabao Cup by Championship side Derby and another public clash with Paul Pogba in training.
