Stu Laundy on sex with ex-girlfriend Sophie Monk

The Bachelorette’s Sophie Monk announced her split from Stu Laundy via an Instagram post on Friday.

And on Monday’s Kyle and Jackie O radio show, the millionaire pub baron was questioned on whether bad sex was the cause of their relationship breakdown.

‘Was the sex bad?’ co-host Kyle Sandilands quizzed the 44-year-old.

‘I’m caught off-guard’: The Bachelorette’s Stu Laundy, 44, revealed to radio co host Kyle Sandilands on Monday, whether bad sex was the cause of his split from Sophie Monk, 38

‘No, not at all,’ Stu responded with a laugh on-air of his bedroom antics with Sophie, 38.

After co-host Jackie ‘O’ went on to say that the former couple were having ‘great sex,’ Kyle was quick to interject: ‘He didn’t say it was great. He just said it wasn’t bad!’

In-between laughs Stu was then heard saying ‘You caught me by surprise, to be honest.’

The on-air comments came shortly after Stu told Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa on Monday, that he had no idea Sophie was going to end things with him, until she did it so publicly on Instagram.

Stu also revealed that the pair both knew their relationship was more platonic than anything for some time.

‘I sort of found out via Instagram,’ Stu claimed to radio hosts Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald and Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli.

‘But having said that, we both knew in our hearts…. We had discussed pushing more towards a friendship.’

Stu said he had a great time with Sophie in Canada when they stayed at a luxurious ski resort over Christmas.

He explained how he came back to Australia to spend time with his four daughters while Sophie remained overseas.

After Sophie announced the split online, Stu texted her.

‘Apart from being so publicly brushed, I have no hard feelings, none whatsoever,’ Stu said.

During the interview, Stu also said that Sophie was hurt by a report she was a party girl and it affected their relationship.

‘She did it in a very nice way. Especially me not being in the industry. I think Soph can hold her head up really high,’ he said.

Stu and Sophie were forced to shoot down persistent split rumours and claims their romance was all for show for months during their relationship.

Last month, Sophie denied the couple had parted ways during an interview on the Today show, saying she left Stu ‘in bed’.

‘I haven’t checked the news to see where we are at but [things are] good,’ she joked.

‘He was in bed when I left him!’

The former Bardot singer also brushed off criticism about their lack of PDA, telling The Kyle and Jackie O Show she isn’t a fan of public displays of affection.

After Daily Mail Australia broke the news of the couple’s split on Thursday, Sophie confirmed the breakup hours later on Instagram.

‘I gave it the best shot I could and my intentions were everything I said I was looking for but unfortunately it just didn’t work out,’ she wrote.

While Sophie didn’t mention Stu by name at all in the lengthy post, she explained she felt she ‘owed’ Australia an answer because their relationship had played out in front of the nation’s eyes.

‘Because I entered this relationship so publicly I know I owe an answer to Australia about my personal life,’ she wrote.

‘I went into this experience looking to settle down and start a family. I gave it the best shot I could and my intentions were everything I said I was looking for, but unfortunately it just didn’t work out.’

The former Bardot singer added: ‘As much as I respect him we are just very different people.’

Despite ongoing rumours to the contrary, Sophie insisted there were ‘no contracts or pressure to stay together whatsoever and we remain friends’.

Looking on the bright side, the Date Night actress added: ‘The positive in this whole experience is it taught me to jump out of my comfort zone in order to feel real love and made me much stronger.’

She concluded: ‘I sincerely want to apologise to anyone who invested so much love and support and I hope I haven’t disappointed anyone.’
