A university student has been caught on film going ballistic after her professor apparently confiscated her fake ID.

The Syracuse University student had the very public meltdown on the first day of a public policy class taught by professor William D. Coplin.

The video begins with the teacher asking the pupil: ‘So… I have a question for you. How old are you?’

She sheepishly replies: ‘Ummm… 19.’

After he informs her that he is confiscating the item, she launches into a foul-mouthed rant, yelling: ‘Are you f***ing kidding me?!’

But former pupils have come forward online revealing that the clip is actually a stunt pulled every year by the professor to frighten new students from carrying fake ID.

G Foster‏ said on Twitter: ‘He’s been doing that for years! Same thing happened in ’98 except it was a dude.

‘As I recall, he asked a student if they had a fake ID. Someone gave it up. He then proceeded to cut it in half. Dude went crazy.’

Another commenter added: ‘Apparently it happens at Syracuse University and the university sets it up every year to deter people from getting and having fake IDs
