A high school student has been arrested after police found a ‘ghost’ AR-15 rifle that he had built using parts he bought online along with ammunition, a drawing layout of a school and a list of intended victims in his possession.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced on Friday that the teen had been taken into custody but no other information has been given.

A press conference is scheduled for 11.30am PST.

It remains unclear how he came to authorities’ attention. Police say he bought the required parts to put together the illegal weapon after buying them online.

It comes as the community near Saugus High School in Santa Clarita continues to recover from a shooting which left two innocent children.

The shooter in that attack had also put together his weapon using various ‘ghost’ parts.
