And upon a closer inspection, the young woman was left disgusted after she discovered an odd colour in her bun.

‘I opened it up and found what looks like a piece of chewing gum. It was cooked into the burger, it was in the cheese,’ she said.

Speaking to Yahoo 7, the young woman said she felt ‘sick just thinking about it’.

‘You trust these people to make your food.’

After returning to the store, the woman claimed the manager offered a refund and a free meal from the menu – but she declined to accept.

The restaurant manager told the publication they suspected the unusual ingredient was blue tac but added they were unsure how it ended up in the muffin.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted McDonald’s for comment.
