Shoppers looked on in horror as police tackled a man brandishing a Samurai sword after a man in his 20s was stabbed close to where a rapper was knifed to death at a birthday party.

One man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) and possession of a bladed article and two men were arrested on suspicion of GBH.

They have been taken to an east London police station where they remain in custody.

One passerby said: ‘Police were chasing him. He was thrown to the ground and they pulled out a 2ft Samurai sword.

‘He could skin a crocodile with that knife’

The scaffolder added: ‘His mate was standing next to him. He said there’s bigger knives out there.’

Another witness told Essex Live: ‘My brother is in Romford and this bloke just got slammed on the deck by the police after running around with what looks like a machete.

‘Apparently he was in McDonald’s according to other people but my brother only saw him on the floor after being taken down by police.’

The video shows three police officers surrounding the man, who is lying on the ground with his hands tied behind his back.

The incident took place in the area where a 15-year-old drill rap fan was stabbed to death when a mass brawl broke out as around 200 teenagers were leaving a 16th birthday party.
