Summer House star Carl Radke explains name of his new bar is NOT a jab at ex-fiancee Lindsay Hubbard… after asking her to be ‘softer’

Unfortunately for Lindsay Hubbard, her ex-fiance Carl Radke’s new bar will be a place where everybody knows her name.

After asking Hubbard, 37, to act ‘softer’ toward him during their relationship, Radke, 39, recently explained that the name of his new Soft Bar + Cafe is unrelated.

‘While “soft drinks” is a term used in the US, it has a different connotation, typically representing soda,’ Radke told Page Six, noting that his establishment is inspired by the European usage of ‘soft cocktails’ or ‘softs’ to mean non-alcoholic drinks.

‘I wanted to define a new — and much needed — category and space, having “soft drinks” or “softs” be seen as functional and high quality non [alcoholic] beverages for adults,’ he added.

Radke said, ‘I was sharing this thought during a conversation with my co-founder as we discussed raising the bar in the non-[alcoholic] space, ultimately leading us to the name “Soft Bar.”‘

Radke announced the ‘new bar and café concept’ in Brooklyn on Monday, stirring plenty of speculation about the name on social media.

‘Carl naming his non alcoholic bar “Soft Bar” is one of the most pathetic things the man has done,’ wrote one person on X.

‘Asking Lindsay to be softer to him and opening up a bar named soft. Diabolical honestly,’ another posted.

Radke has since apologized to Hubbard for asking for more ‘softness and tenderness’ on the Season 8 of Summer House.

‘I can’t say ‘soft’ to a woman,’ he told Kyle Cooke on the Summer House Season 8 After Show.

‘According to Lindsey, that’s a derogatory thing to say to a woman,’ added Radke. ‘I did not know that and I do apologize for saying that.’

He explained, ‘It’s like saying to a man, “Be more like a man.” If you ask a woman to be a little softer when you’re discussing your career opportunities, I guess that’s derogatory.

‘That’s what she told me. And if that’s the case, I am sorry. I didn’t mean to be so derogatory,’ said Radke.

After their explosive breakup was filmed for the Summer House season 8 finale, Radke said he was ‘not proud’ of breaking off the engagement on camera.

‘I’m not proud of how I was handling the situation and how I was treating her,’ he told The New York Times.

‘I mean, I was clearly frustrated and so I wish I had really been more direct,’ said Radke, noting that viewers ‘can clearly see [him] struggling to communicate [his] feelings’ in season 8.

‘That’s not on her. That’s on me. I’m seeing myself blame and play victim, and I don’t want to be either,’ he added.
