Sunrise star reveals she is ditching the hit breakfast show for a shock new career in winemaking

Popular Sunrise reporter Amanda Bachmann has revealed she is leaving the top-rating breakfast show to concentrate on her new career as a wine-maker.

Announcing the news via Twitter on Friday, the cheerful blonde told her followers that after more than twelve years working on Channel Seven’s flagship it was time for new adventures.

Based in Adelaide, Amanda is co-owner of Price’s Wines, a 16.18 hectare vineyard in South Australia’s McLaren Vale, a famous wine growing district.

‘After 12+ years I’ve made the decision to leave Sunrise,’ Amanda said.

‘It’s been a rewarding time and I’ve been fortunate to work as a producer and reporter alongside some of the best.

‘I’ve loved it all and made lifelong friends. But it’s time now for new adventures!’

Followers quickly posted good wishes on Amanda’s feed.

‘Enjoy the sleep ins,’ said one friend.

Many asked what the future holds in store for Amanda, who replied that after taking a break, the media veteran said she would be travelling around Europe to check out some famous vineyards. 

‘I’m hoping to check out some vines in Italy and France,’ Amanda said.

Known for her laidback reporting style, Amanda began her major TV career in 1994 in Hong Kong.

After moving back to Australia, she worked in Adelaide for Channel Nine’s A Current Affair for a year before joining Sunrise in 2010.

In 2012, Amanda became part of owner of Price Wine’s which produces limited release old vine Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Alicante.
