What is Elle’s secret to gorgeous hair?

While she is known for her body, Elle Macpherson is also as revered for her beachy tousled waves.

And if she wants to create ‘gorgeous hair’, Elle said Sam McKnight hair products are ‘the best’.

Writing in her Get the Gloss column, the 55-year-old said she swears by the Lazy Girl dry shampoo and Cool Girl Barely There texture mist.

She also gets her hair cut and coloured in London by Josh Wood, and said that it’s important to complement your hair colour to your skin tone.

When it comes to makeup, Elle (pictured) said she likes to keep it 'very natural' with a RMS lip and cheek stain and Lucas Pawpaw Ointment on her lips to nourish them

What is Elle’s makeup routine?

A beach girl at heart, Elle said she prefers ‘un-makeup’ to ‘makeup’.

‘I like to keep it very natural with RMS Lip2Cheek, a coconut-oil-based pigment for my cheeks and lips for a soft natural glow and colour,’ she told Get the Gloss.

Elle looks after her skin by visiting the Just Ageless skincare salon at 11 Howard Hotel, and uses their Defenage product to keep her skin looking young.

She finishes her routine with the ‘very Aussie’ Lucas Pawpaw Ointment on her lips.

'If I'm ever worried about one feature on my face, then I focus on another,' Elle said (pictured). 'It's all a matter of perspective'

What is Elle’s number one tip for looking better in photos?

The art of looking good in photographs is one of those things that some people just have and others don’t.

But Elle said you can teach yourself to be a good poser, provided you know how.

‘If I’m ever worried about one feature on my face, then I focus on another,’ Elle said. ‘It’s all a matter of perspective. When we work with what we have, we can all look beautiful.’

She said that you should look at a picture of yourself and if you notice you hold tension somewhere, then try and forget about this, focus on a different angle and notice the difference.

What is Elle’s go-to swimwear label?

Elle has made a career out of wearing swimwear, so if there’s anyone that knows the clothing type, then it’s her.

She said if she has her pick of swimwear, she’ll generally pick a bikini by Melissa Odabash or a Norma Kamali high-cut one piece.

She also loves Albus Luman and the Australian brand Zimmermann’s swimwear.

Elle will finish off every swimwear look with a wide-brimmed hat or panama, as she doesn’t like to expose her face to the sun.

When it comes to diet, 'The Body' (pictured) said she follows a 'largely vegan diet' - which means 'anything packed with organic, seasonal plant-based ingredients'

What is in Elle’s diet and what does she cook the most?

When it comes to diet, ‘The Body’ said she follows a ‘largely vegan diet’ – which means ‘anything packed with organic, seasonal plant-based ingredients’.

‘Although I prefer a raw vegan diet, if I’m feeling like something hot, I’ll have a poached egg on sunflower or wheat-free dark rye bread, raw oatmeal with agave or a raw chia pudding soaked in almond milk,’ she said.

Elle uses a food dehydrator to prepare most of her meals and makes her own bread from nuts and seeds.

She eats plenty of raw fruit and vegetables.

How does Elle satisfy cravings?

Even Elle said she is not immune to cravings.

But rather than reach for the nearest fried food, she said she sips on Welleco’s Super Elixir Greens every day.

Since she started several years ago, Elle said she has noticed her cravings decrease drastically.

She also loves celery juice first thing, which is said to reduce cravings later in the day.

How does Elle stay fit?

As a natural lover of fitness, staying in shape is easy for Elle.

She said she loves doing things that bring her ‘purpose and joy’.

This normally means ocean swimming, walks in the woods, horse riding or training at home with an elliptical board or practising some yoga.

One of her wackier things she does is she walks ‘waist or thigh deep in the ocean’ – which Elle said is ‘great for circulation, tone and water retention’.

What is Elle’s daily ritual?

The daily ritual has grown in popularity in recent years, with CEOs around the world saying their time in the morning is precious and what helps them to succeed.

When it comes to her own morning routine, Elle said she swills ‘coconut oil around my mouth for about 10 minutes every morning’.

She then takes her Super Elixir Greens powder and has either a hot water and lemon juice or celery juice an hour or two before breakfast.
