Suranne Jones cuts a chic figure as she wins the actor of the year prize at Remarkable Women Awards

Suranne Jones looked chic as she won the actor of the year prize at Stylist’s Remarkable Women Awards in London on Monday, which she attended with Martin Compston.

The jubilant actress, 43, beamed onstage with her award while wearing a white silk blouse teamed with a pair of black wide trousers.

The former Coronation Street star looked incredible as she sported a unique pair of black shoes at the star-studded and celebratory evening at the Leicester Square venue The Londoner Hotel.

Suranne opted for a dewy makeup look with a pink lip while her brunette tresses were slicked back in a stylish bun. 

The natural beauty went all out for the event as she had her nails painted the same colour as her lipstick and she sported a pair of gold earrings.

Meanwhile Martin, 37, looked dapper in a navy suit which he teamed with a light blue shirt and a brown striped tie. 

The Scottish actor looked ecstatic as he handed the actor prize to his Vigil co-star Suranne.

The event honoured women who excel in their field and was hosted by comedian and creator of BBC series Starstruck, Rose Matafeo.

Lisa Smosarski, editor-in-chief of Stylist, said: ‘I’m delighted we can be together again this year to celebrate the women who are using their platforms to help other women.

‘If the challenges of the past two years have taught us anything, it’s that every day we are lucky enough to encounter truly remarkable women.

‘From our brilliant NHS workers, scientists, key workers and carers to our friends, neighbours and the women who formed support groups, charities and lead communities.

‘This year we are celebrating our return to normality thanks to those thousands of acts of remarkability.’

It comes as Suranne recently revealed she struggled with her mental health as she adjusted to life in the pandemic.  

She admitted her anxiety peaked as lockdown restrictions began to ease while she was grieving her father – who died from COVID in January 2021. 

Speaking on Gaby Roslin’s podcast, Suranne confessed she found it difficult to adjust back into ‘normal life’.

The Doctor Foster star explained: ‘I suffer with anxiety anyway. I didn’t know what the right thing to do was. When you are on set… and this still applies, the restrictions are really in place.

‘Even when people were coming out of the restrictions. I was still in this bubble where everyone was still wearing masks and we were being very cautious.

‘People were giving each other space. We were in a strict Covid testing regime. A few weeks ago I finished filming Gentleman Jack. It made me anxious to see everyone wondering around without masks on. I didn’t know how to fit in.’  

Suranne then expressed how she felt anxious about getting back into her normal routine after her father died. 

She said: ‘It is quite scary. All my jobs got concertinaed. Because of Covid. And my dad passing… I was away a lot.

‘Even coming back and taking my son to school, or driving my car or getting everyone ready to get out the house.. those kind of things made me really anxious because I was suddenly back in the real world.

‘This job is wonderful and I am very privileged to do it but you are very absent from your life when you take on big roles like I do.’
