Good Morning Britain star Susanna Reid has hit out at the internet abuse she suffers – insisting she will not leave her job despite pressure from ‘trolls’.
The 47-year-old has been targeted by Twitter critics, who say she should quit her role because of fellow presenter Piers Morgan, who generates considerable controversy.
In the past few days alone, Ms Reid has been described as an ‘intelligently challenged leftie d***head’ and ‘a bigot’.

But Ms Reid has insisted she is unmoved by the abuse. She said: ‘People say, “How can you carry on working alongside Piers? For the sake of your own dignity, just walk.”
‘But why should I give up my paid employment because of the person sitting next to me?
‘That doesn’t make any sense. This is my living, this is how I pay my mortgage.
‘It would be awkward if I got up and left – but I don’t have any inclination to.
‘People also have a go because I take issue with the person sitting next to me. That’s when I know I’m winning. I’m staying right where I am.’
Last week, Good Morning Britain won its highest ratings since Ms Reid defected from BBC Breakfast in 2014, achieving 22.5 per cent of the audience share.
Speaking with the BBC’s Jane Garvey and Fi Glover on their Fortunately podcast, Ms Reid said her move to ITV had been a success.
‘I am freer to be who I am,’ she said. ‘The BBC requires you to be neutral. [At ITV] I can show a bit more of me.’
