Sussex dad pranks new mother with pictures of daughter’s ‘night out’

A doting dad decided to prank his wife with a series of picture messages appearing to show their daughter had performed a series of hair-raising stunts.

Steven Ragless, 42, a warehouse manager from West Worthing in Sussex, decided to calm his concerned wife Selina Ragless’ nerves during her first night out since giving birth to Sienna, four months.

After receiving a stream of texts checking up on their baby, Steven, decided to change her worries to laughter with images of the little girl in a stir-fry pan, in the washing machine and even pretending she’d had a bottle of vodka.

The mother-of-two, 35, who works as a carer and a barmaid, was able to relax and giggle with her friends as Steven continued to send the pictures, even getting their son, Harry, four, involved.

Speaking about his decision to prank Selina, Steven said: ‘She deserved a night out but she was worried about Sienna and Harry as all mums would be.

‘I kept receiving text messages asking how she was and then I saw there was a ‘baby’ setting on the washing machine.’

And keen to calm his wife’s anxiety, Steven decided to  play a prank on her with Sienna.

‘I thought I’d put Sienna into the machine and take a picture, then I got Harry to get one of me offering her up to the microwave,’ he revealed of the hilarious pictures.

And luckily Selena saw the funny side, despite initially having doubts about leaving the youngster with Steven for the evening.

Selina said: ‘This was my first time going out since I had Sienna 16 weeks ago and some of the mums from Harry’s nursery invited me for cocktails.

‘Me and Steven rarely get out the house because our son has Spina Bifida and we now have the baby.

‘I was nervous and kept texting Steven asking if everything was okay. I think I text him at least four times throughout the evening and called him too,’ she said.

Selena’s anxiety soon turned to laughter when she received the stream of sassy snaps.

‘After a couple of hours, I started receiving these pictures with hilarious captions. They were what made me laugh even more,’ she admitted.

‘Firstly he sent me a picture of Sienna in the washing machine. Obviously the door was open and it wasn’t turned on – just to make that clear!

‘Then he wrote ‘she was very wet after her spin in the washing machine so I thought I’d dry her off in the microwave’ and sent me the picture of her near that.

‘Shortly after, I got a photo of her in the stir fry pan and he’d written ‘stir fry anyone?’ I could see Harry sat on the side next to her.

‘He sent me the picture of Sienna laid down with the vodka and Pringles in her arms while asleep with ‘this parenting lark is easy’ written as the caption.’

The new mother admitted her husband is a fan of using humour with their children, previously dressing up their son Harry as Harry Potter and a Stormtrooper.

Selina said: ‘I’m breastfeeding Sienna so there was a big build up for me with all the pumping and preparing enough bottles for her that night and the day after while I recovered.

‘I was very nervous leaving her. I didn’t breastfeed my oldest for long so never had that kind of attachment you get with breastfeeding. Obviously I didn’t like leaving him either but it was different.

‘When I first got the pictures through from Steven I just couldn’t believe it.

‘I knew she was in good hands when I left her so it was hilarious. I don’t think Sienna even knew what was going on.

‘She’s such a chilled, calm baby she probably didn’t care that her dad and big brother were putting her in all these poses for the pictures.

‘He used to do the same thing with my son and send me funny pictures of him dressed up as Harry Potter and characters from Star Wars.’

Steven has assured outsiders that ‘no Siennas were harmed’, and has vowed to put the pictures up at his daughter’s 18th to embarrass her.

Steven said: ‘I just want to say that ‘no Siennas were harmed in the making of these pictures.’

‘The pictures will make for some wonderful memories and will be embarrassing for Sienna on her 18th birthday.

‘Selina is a brilliant mother to our kids and as you can see, our house is full of happiness and laughter. Our kids mean the world to us.

‘I’m already planning what we’ll get up to when we’re next left unsupervised.’
