SUTTON: Tottenham and Pochettino went for it against Ajax and produced all-out attack

Tottenham and Mauricio Pochettino went for it against Ajax and produced all-out attack… what happened in Amsterdam left me speechless

Mauricio Pochettino threw on the only forwards he had available on his bench.

Fernando Llorente was brought on for midfielder Victor Wanyama when they were trailing 3-0 on aggregate at half time. Then when they still needed to score, Erik Lamela came on for right-back Kieran Trippier.

It was him going all-in and my word, how it paid off. Who knows what formation Tottenham were playing in the final few minutes.

Tottenham made a miraculous comeback to beat Ajax in the Champions League semi-finals

It was like a school-boy game. Balls were being lumped forward, in and around Llorente, and it came up trumps for Tottenham.

Lucas Moura became Pochettino’s hat-trick hero but the touch from Dele Alli to set him up for Spurs’ winner was first class as well.

I was lucky enough to be inside the Johan Cruyff Arena to witness this and it left me speechless.

At half-time, Tottenham seemed dead and buried. But Pochettino didn’t think so. His players didn’t think so.

They dug deep. They kept going and going and going. What belief, character and sheer guts they showed to emerge victorious.

We witnessed a miracle from Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday and we witnessed another from Tottenham at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Wednesday.
