A neighbour has told of the ‘bloodcurdling’ screams from a teenager who lay dying in the gutter after a brawl between a group of youths ended in a double stabbing at Swansea.

Police have charged a 16-year-old boy with murder after a fight between a group of teenagers on a suburban street in south eastern Lake Macquarie ended in tragedy.

Emergency services were called to a home on Parbury Road on Friday where they found the two teens with several stab wounds.

The pair had visited the home with a third youth, before the accused, who lived near by, allegedly confronted the trio.

Detectives believe the 16-year-old confronted the teens on a nature strip before allegedly slashing one and stabbing the second several times.

Nearby witnesses provided assistance to the 16-year-old who stumbled from a hill, collapsing into a nearby gutter with stab wounds to his upper torso.

Paramedics attempted to revive him but he died at the scene.

The second teen was rushed to John Hunter Hospital to undergo emergency surgery, suffering significant blood loss from stab wounds to the chest and hip.

He remains in a serious but stable condition.

A neighbour claimed he had just gone to bed before he heard the cries of the wounded teenager from the end of the street.

‘There were screams, bloodcurdling screams, and the pitter-patter patter of feet up the road,’ resident Frank Stead told The Daily Telegraph.

‘The guy down the street couldn’t scream any louder, it was at the top of his voice. It was like death screams.’

Police cordoned off the street and called in the dog squad with the accused teenager located in a backyard after a short search, a large knife was found nearby.

It is understood the group of teens were known to each other with detectives investigating a physical altercation involving the accused, earlier this month.

Neighbours gathered on Saturday with disinfectant and a broom to scrub the blood stained road that trailed the street for up to 80metres.

The accused was charged with count of murder and one count of attempted murder, he was refused bail and is due to appear in Parramatta Children’s Court on Saturday.
