Swedish reporter covering the World Cup is grabbed and kissed live on air

A Swedish football reporter was grabbed and kissed live on air in the second clip this week to show harassment of female reporters at the World Cup.

Malin Wahlberg had to fend off a Swedish fan who draped his arms around her back and kissed her during a broadcast in Nizhny Novgorod.

Despite having her hair ruffled and the distraction of boisterous Swedish fans bouncing in the background she carried on professionally with the broadcast.

It comes after a Colombian journalist was groped and kissed by a Russian fan in Saransk in what the fan has claimed was a failed attempt to touch her shoulder.

Ms Wahlberg was presenting live coverage ahead of Sweden’s fixture against South Korea when she was bothered by the travelling fans.

The match was on Monday but the footage has surfaced after Colombian journalist Julieth Gonzalez Theran was harassed during a broadcast for Deutsche Welle.

Earlier the Russian man who groped Ms Gonzalez Theran during a live broadcast apologised and said it was a ‘misunderstanding’ as he meant to touch her shoulder.

The Colombian reporter was working for the German news channel in the Russian city of Saransk when the man came into shot, grabbed her breast and kissed her on the cheek.

Ms Gonzalez Theran bravely carried on presenting despite the harassment, but the man, named only as Ruslan, has offered his ‘profound apologies’.

He claimed he had a bet with friends that he could kiss a reporter live on air, and meant to put his hand on her shoulder but instead touched her breast by mistake.

He told the German broadcaster he had not picked on Ms Gonzales Theran for her age or gender but because she ‘happened to be nearby’.

Speaking to her on Skype to apologise, he said she ‘will never face another such incident in [her] career.’

He said: ‘I would not have believed it myself, but having looked at the video I realize that it looked ambiguous from the side.

‘I acted carelessly and did not think that I would cause you confusion and shock.’

The reporter told the Russian man in their Skype conversation that it was ‘unacceptable and disrespectful’ behaviour but accepted his apology.

She said: ‘I refuse to be a victim, I just want to continue with my job, reporting about football. […] I just want to close this chapter and I wish you the best.’
