Swimmer, 45, drowns at Sydney beach after being pulled unconscious from the water

  • A man has drowned at a beach south of Sydney on Wednesday morning 
  • The 45-year-old man was found not-breathing and unconscious in the water 
  • Paramedics arrived at Wanda Beach, Cronulla, at 9.15am but failed to revive him 

A man has drowned at a beach south of Sydney after being pulled from the water unconscious.

Emergency services responded to reports that a 45-year-old man was found not-breathing and unconscious in the water at Wanda Beach, Cronulla.

A member of the public pulled the man from the water at 9am on Wednesday morning.

Emergency services were called and a member of the public began to perform CPR. 

Paramedics arrived at about 9.15 to treat the man with the assistance of police and lifeguards.

They failed to revive the man and he died at the scene.  

Police from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command were told the man was swimming at the location.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
