Swimmer Emily Seebohm opens up about her split with fellow champion Mitch Larkin

Olympic gold medallist Emily Seebohm has opened up about her public split with fellow swimmer Mitch Larkin.

The 26-year-old star’s two-year relationship with Larkin, 25, came to an end in July after she reportedly found text messages from another woman on his phone,  according to The Courier-Mail.

Seebohm told the publication she had never suspected her former partner of cheating and the alleged affair came as a shock.

But now, Seebohm says, she now feels ‘stronger than ever.’

‘I just want to get on with my life, move on and want nothing to do with him and that is the best outcome,’ Seebohm said.

The 26-year-old said she is looking forward to putting the messy split behind her.

Seebohm reportedly found text messages on Larkin’s phone before the Treasury Brisbane’s ICON fashion show on July 12, according to the Courier Mail.

The next day she announced on Instagram that the pair had parted ways.

The Olympic champion said she and Larkin have not had contact since their split.

Since the break-up, Seebohm and Larkin have competed alongside each other at the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, which was held from August 9 to 14 in Tokyo, Japan.

Seebohm said competing next to her former love was ‘hard and intense’.

‘I really didn’t want to show that I wasn’t strong enough to deal with it … I had moments where I was good and moments where I didn’t want to be there.’
