Swimwear Special: Your Costume dramas… sorted

These are your biggest swimwear dilemmas – and our very stylish solutions

Q How do I find a one-piece that doesn’t flatten my breasts?

A Look for swimsuits with cup support – balconette styles are great for lifting and enhancing the chest. Nipped-in waists and belted designs are also a good option for creating shape under the bust line.

Q I am self-conscious about my stomach. What are the best costumes for tummy control?

A A lot of brands nowadays have tummy control as standard, but extra details such as ruched fabric, adjustable side ties and belting help smooth, hold and define.

Q Best styles for aqua classes?

A Water sports are a great way to stay active, but you need to choose swimwear that is supportive and will stay put throughout your moves. Look for designs that are cut high around the neckline and underarms and also chlorine-resistant, to ensure the fabric lasts.

Q I’m an F cup and struggle to find bikini tops that are supportive but not frumpy.

What do you recommend?

A With bigger busts it’s important to choose swimwear with cups to avoid a bulky look. Thick straps will give you support without cutting in, or try this strapless one from Beija.

Q My budget is £30 – which brands should I check out?

A In terms of style, the supermarket collections are up there with the rest of the high street – plus Tu at Sainsbury’s, F&F at Tesco and George at Asda all do cup sizes in their bikinis, helping you to find the perfect fit.

Q Sustainable swimwear that doesn’t compromise on style?

A We love a sustainable brand and these – all of which use hard-wearing recycled fabrics – are our favourites for swimwear.

Q I have a long body and really struggle with finding costumes that fit without giving me a wedgie…

A Brands such as Dorothy Perkins and Next have tall fits within their swimwear collections that will cater for long torsos. Also check out our personal favourite Long Tall Sally, which specialises in swimwear for long bodies and stomach control. Tankinis are also a great way of creating a swimsuit silhouette with more freedom.
