Aussies along the East Coast are being warned to brace for the possibility of severe thunderstorms set to bring strong winds and large hail this afternoon.
A series of troughs moving across southeast Australia are forecast to bring showers and thunderstorms to the region on Wednesday and Thursday.
Sky News Meteorologist Rob Sharpe explained a cold change ‘aggravated’ thunderstorm conditions for Wednesday afternoon.
‘They (thunderstorms) look to become fairly prolific from eastern Victoria right up to the eastern parts of Queensland,’ Mr Sharpe said.
So a pretty dynamic day on Wednesday through the east.’
On Wednesday, showers are expected to develop in the afternoon and evening across southeast Queensland, eastern parts of New South Wales and eastern Victoria.
Severe thunderstorms are possible for the region, with the potential for large hail and damaging wind gusts.

New South Wales
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for NSW’s eastern districts – stretching from Eden to Lismore – with damaging winds of more than 90km/h and hail larger than 2cm possible.
Sydney is forecast to reach a warm 25C on Wednesday ahead of the afternoon’s cold front which will bring up to 5mm of rainfall and a possible thunderstorm.
The wet weather will continue into Thursday for but will clear by Friday, with temperatures remaining in the high teens over the weekend.
Queensland
In the Sunshine State, Brisbane is forecast to reach a maximum of 25C on Wednesday before showers and a chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening.
Thunderstorms are also expected in Brisbane on Thursday morning and afternoon, with a maximum temperature of 27C and winds reaching up to 25km/h, before clearing for the weekend.
Victoria
Showers are expected across Melbourne on Wednesday and Thursday, with a possible 10mm of rain across both days.
On Friday, conditions for the east coast will ease as the trough moves offshore and will be followed by a high-pressure system bringing warm, dry and sunny weather to most of the country.

Australian Capital Territory
Wet weather is expected in Canberra on Wednesday, with a possible thunderstorm expected to hit from the late morning.
There is only a slight chance of a shower for Canberra on Thursday as conditions ease.
From Friday, the nation’s capital will see sunny conditions and temperatures in the late teens before warming up early next week.
Tasmania
Showers are forecast in Hobart on Wednesday and are expected to ease in the evening.
The wet weather will continue into Thursday, with up to 2mm of possible rainfall.
Conditions will then clear on Friday before warming up to 18C for a mostly sunny Sunday.

Northern Territory
Darwin will remain dry and sunny for the week with warm weather as maximum temperatures range between 33 and 35C.
South Australia
Adelaide could see a possible shower on Wednesday, with temperatures forecast to reach a maximum of 16C and winds of up to 30km/h.
A slight chance of rain is forecast for Thursday as conditions clear for a sunny weekend.
Adelaide residents can expect a clear weekend, with maximum temperatures reaching 21C and 25C on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
Western Australia
Perth will have sunny conditions on Wednesday and will remain warm and dry on Thursday, with a top temperature of 28C.
A cold front moving through the state on Friday will see temperatures drop and showers well into the weekend.
Saturday is forecast to be the capital’s wettest day, with up to 4mm of rain and winds reaching 35km/h.
Temperatures will remain around the high teens and early 20s over the weekend before conditions start to clear early next week.
