This is the hilarious moment a Sydney driver decided to do a burnout in a 1970s Holden Monaro – before being captured by police moments later. 

A video, posted to popular Facebook page Ozzy Memes, shows the driver as he is  caught red handed by officers.

Uploaded social media footage from Arncliffe, in Sydney’s south, shows a man in a black Holden Monaro performing the illegal activity in what appears to be an industrial area.

Local police happened to arrive at the opportune time, much to the amusement of the dashboard recorder. 

As of Wednesday morning, the clip has been viewed almost 140,000 times and shared to over 3000 people on Facebook. 

The foolish driver won’t be on the road anytime soon.

If it was a first offence, his early 1970s Holden Monaro would have been confiscated for three months or impounded.

He also would have copped a loss of demerit points and a fine.

The driver’s collectors item isn’t cheap, retailing for at least $30,000.

A burnout is the practice of keeping a vehicle stationary and spinning its wheels, causing the tires to heat up and smoke due to friction.

It is best achieved by engaging the to lock up the rear tires and flooring the gas pedal.
